Just did the 100% opposite and made my 2019 bike street legal in MI. Mine I bought used with less than an hour on it. It has GYTR CCU/ECU and Yosh slip on. Love it! Had an 07 previously.

Yammy for the win. Myself and my old man have been with Yamaha for years and have never been let down.

Hi Lewis, honestly haven't ridden the bike enough to call it yet. However I'm seriously impressed how good the stock KYB units are out the box. I still want to get the bike in clay snot, tight single track. Hell might even try some hard Enduro on big blue. Just been time for riding and some filming! Never enough time!

I'm in the US and plan on doing a Dirt to Road build up! Unfortunately, they don't come street legal nor does it have an unlocked ECU or map switch. I agree the pricing on KTM has become very high and Yamaha offers an awesome package from the factory. Definitely going to look for a WR later this year.
@twowheelpilot3 жыл бұрын
Yep for sure on the KTM pricing. I'm a huge huge KTM fan however their bikes need alot of money spend on them and they are the least "ready to race out the box" year in year out. I still love my KTM however. I've been riding the 2021 WR450, wow. Hands down best of the box setup bike I've ever owned. Wouldn't ever need to bother getting the shock and forks into a suspension shop for most people. They work that well out the box. Power turner is epic too. It's a rampaging blue bull or a friendly Labrador with a few button presses. Still testing the bike but so far it's impressive.

I have put the offroad kit tail light on my bike. All plugs are connected but have a blue and a yellow wire and apparently they plug into wires under the seat to make the brake light work but i cant seems to find them. Also tail light will come on when you touch ignition switch but head light only goes when engine is running. Is this normall for the tail light. Any tips much appreciated.

Hi there. I'm going through the same process myself and once the indicator / horn / high beam assemble has been removed I can't work out what plugs back into the headlamp to keep that functioning
@twowheelpilot2 жыл бұрын
The single plug from the main loom. The ECU turns the light on after start up.

@@twowheelpilot thank you. I found it. I can see why you deloomed. There alot of redundant wiring once you disconnect the road gear

Hey mate, great video with solid info. I’ve just bought the same bike in Australia and want to take the indicator switchblock and horn off and use the off-road start and kill switches instead like you have. Was it hard to remove the adr loom? Did you need to take the tank off or anything or do you just unplug it all and cut cable ties and pull it out?
@twowheelpilot3 жыл бұрын
The ADR loom runs in addition to the factory loom down the left hand side of the bike. It's pretty easy to take out. Just take your time. NOTHING needs cutting. All unplugs. Take photos if you need to. Might help if you want to plug it all back in again. The only mod I did that did require a cut was the clutch start safety switch. It was getting in the way so I removed and looped the circuit. Now the bike starts without having to hold the clutch lever it.

Am doing the opposite of what you are doing To get the bike road legal Am having hard time figuring what wires goes where as there is no any diagram for the adr wiring I would be really thankful If you can help me.
@twowheelpilot3 жыл бұрын
Sure thing mate. If you can get me your email I'll take photos of the wiring diagram. I kept all the paperwork so I know how it goes back on if I want to do that.

Would you be willing to sell the road wiring/bit that you removed off the bike? Getting ready to piece a setup together but would rather use OEM parts if possible.

Hi there, no sorry. Need it all as my bike is plated. I can ask Yamaha New Zealand if they can sell the whole kit however. If this interests you let me know and I'll ask if that is possible. The kit is known as the ADR kit.

Why not just buy the FX model?
@twowheelpilot3 жыл бұрын
101 reasons. The WR450F does everything an FX will do and alot more. Power delivery and suspension more suitable for single track and off road. Gear box ratios better suited and more robust. The WR450F is road legal if needed. Not possible with the FX. The WR is more than capable of taking in an MX track if needed. It's not a soggy trail bike. It's the most YZ it's ever been. I was going to buy an FX until great feed back from guys I know with the WR. Hey if it's good enough for Ben Townely it's good enough for me and my skill level! However I live in New Zealand and we get the full power bikes with all the turning options standard. If you live in the USA and get the restricted WR and don't want to buy the extra ECU, WiFi module and map switch then an FX model might be more of a consideration.

Hi there, Not exempt for the road. Just for competition use. According to the text, copy and paste. I really had hoped you were right and things had changed.
@marcwilliams92853 жыл бұрын
Vehicles that are exempt: Trial and Enduro motorcycles, primarily used off-road or the purposes of a sanctioned competition.
@marcwilliams92853 жыл бұрын
This means you can get registered and WOF. Enduro comps can and do use road sections. The important part is "primarily used off-road". The bike was/is designed primarily to be used off road as its an enduro bike. If they couldn't be used on the road they wouldn't need an exemption. The same rules have applied in the U.K. for a number of years now.
