If I remember correctly, one of the first times they were in NWT, it was just Pete, and he was catching big pike from shore. I want to say late 1980's.

Awesome episode! I'm sure a lot of work goes into editing these episodes for TV, with a lot of footage not making the cut. Have you considered making "longer format" episodes for KZbin with perhaps more detailed or instructional content building on the main TV episode similar to The New Fly Fisher?

Gee, you guys sure you don’t need an electrician to help you with all those cables you got everywhere. Did you edit out all the times you both tripped over all that junk??

Great conversation about trolling. I used to hate it but as I’ve gotten older and lazier I do more of it. It’s also a great way to explore a new lake and, like you said, it’s very effective. It’s about the only way I’ve had any success catching winter cutthroat trout on Vancouver Island. That would be a great episode by the way.

By far my favourite episode!! I have a question for you guys. How has the planning process for new episodes evolved over time? What are the key differences in how episodes were planned in the 80s and 90s compared to today?

Curious on what was the most strangest thing u caught a fish on as bait? For example I went out with a co worker and watched him catch a walleye off the end off a cigarette butt.

Does trolling still have a place in your guys' fishing repertoire? I get it prob doesnt make great TV, but how often to you use it to help find fish or get fish for the pan?

I looked up this Nordic Point place. Shit me…I remembers why I stopped watching this show. These guys just took expensive all inclusive, FREE vacations. It is 20 hours drive from Toronto. The cost is so high, that you must call a special person to talk to about your trip. This was no longer a fishin show. It became an advertising agent for the MOST EXPENSIVE, HIGHLY PAMPERED pretend fishing vacation. Ill bet if you insist on a type of fish, theyd build a netted area and stock it for your stay. This show went from exciting and fun, to VACATIONS OF THE RICH AND BORING.

They're not allowed to release them on here until it's aired on TV over the weekend. That's why it's released here on Mondays. It's an embargo in their contract with Global TV.

There are two main problems with Atlantic salmon. The first one is bad government management for years and years. The second one is climate change. The water is too low and too hot in the rivers and oceans everywhere. so what is happening is there is no real future for salmon fishermen but there was for striped bass until today. By giving more commercial licenses for striper Leboutiller will kill that fishery too. Lodges will go bankrupt and Tourists will be more scarce good job Leboutiller continue like that, and kill everything. For example, I live in Quebec, which is close to the Trinité River. In 1980 there were more than 3000 salmons to spawn this year 63 it is done

Are there any species you guys avoid targeting on The Fish’n Canada Show? I.e. too hard to find, too fragile, not “sellable”, etc.

Pickerel is just our local name for a Walleye, something most fresh water American fishermen from the Midwest to the East, are familiar with.
