This is a terrible product. It's extremely dry and sandy. Forget about getting smooth level surfaces. It also dries almost instantly once applied. Also, you will need a lot more than the package says.

Just like the Henry flood patch material, the directions on the container are so small they are unreadable. Quality control on direction to use and install the product are very important.

I bought a tub of the premixed. It isn't white like the video, it's kind of orangey-beige, and it's *very* gritty. Like wet sand that hardens. Not at all what I expected from this video. The container says Henry 345 Floor Patch (bought at big box home improvement place), so maybe it's a different product with the same number on it?? At any rate...too gritty, and I don't recommend it.

Exactly. We had the same experience, bought at Lowes and regret it. How is anyone suppose to spread this sticky sandy mess? This worthtless product just turned an easy job into a nightmare. Half tempted to try and remove it before it sets anymore. Why would anyone make a floor leveler that was sandy and gritty and stuck to the tools more than the floor? Stay away if you want a nice smooth and level floor. Perfect it you want a gritty sandy floor.

So i am wondering if i can use the 547 to trough over the old vinyl and little bit of exposed mastic or tar paper? Would i need the 546 additive? You dont mention for some reason??

Hi . I had two guys lay my flooring today using Henry 650R . They did small rows like 4 at a time . Put the adhesive done and then the strips of flooring. Well the second guy used a wet rag o get any over runs up . But now that all the flooring is done when I walk on it , it’s like u spilled sweet tea on the floor and it dried and now it’s sticking sounding when u walk on it . How do they get it off the flooring . And he must not have none you were to wait tell it dried before he laid the strips of vinyl flooring .

Citrasolv is your best bet. Available on Amazon and sometimes in Whole Foods and Sprouts. Don’t dilute, let it sit on the sticky parts for 5 min, then keep gently rubbing it off in circles with terry towel. Repeat as needed. Avoid using anything abrasive to not damage your floor.

Omg I have a small bottle of the primer. It’s pink color. My mom thought it’s some sort of floor cleaning liquid. She pour some into the water then noticed the pink color looked weird as floor cleaner. So she dumped the water into the toilet. Now I am worried the water may still be kind of sticky and make the drain pipe build up stuff.

I just used this today to level a bathroom floor for sheet vinyl. The product is extremely gritty, like it contains silica sand. Don't expect a smooth feather edge and it's only workable for a few minutes before it starts drying and sticking to the trowel. My first application was a pain because I tried to touch up some spots and had divots In the surface that were hard to smooth out. The second application went better because I didn't try to touch up areas after the first few minutes. It works fine for underlayment if slight imperfections aren't going to effect the final result. Also it's hard to sand so don't expect to be able to work out divots. All you can do is work off sharp corners.

Per directions in this video and on the package, I mixed a 25 pound bag with a 3:1 ratio of powder to water by volume - about 2 1/4 units of water to about 6 1/2 units of powder. I used a paint mixing container to measure my water and powder, about 1 1/2 quarts. Converting to quarts - I used about 3 3/8 quarts of water to 9 3/4 quarts of powder. I stirred with a drill for three minutes and the mixture hardened in my bucket within seconds. Instead of fixing a low spot on my subfloor, I ended up with a 5-gallon bucket filled with 25 pounds of solid cement ready for a landfill. I returned the empty powder bag, along with a bucket of useless hardened cement back to Home Depot and Home Depot exchanged it for another bag. This time, I used 4 containers X 1.5 quarts each = 6 quarts of water with a 25 pound bag. The mixture was about the consistency of pancake batter and lasted 15-20 minutes before hardening, as expected. But it did not fully dry for more than 24 hours after spreading it. You need to update your mixing instructions on both the packaging and this video. You should also reimburse Home Depot for taking back my empty powder bag.
@ARDEXAmericas
@ARDEXAmericas 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Greg, we are happy to hear Home Depot exchanged the product for you. Both ratios are correct, one refers to a ratio (3:1), the other one to 4 quarts. Unless using professional equipment, we suggest to mix a smaller amount at a time, which makes the process a lot easier and helps you achieve the required consistency.
@dgregscottpublicvideos
@dgregscottpublicvideos 3 жыл бұрын
@@ARDEXAmericas Thanks - but mixing with that 3:1 ratio hardened within **seconds.** Not minutes, but seconds. It took 6 quarts of water to 25 pounds of powder, or roughly a 3:2 ratio, to stay wet for a few minutes. Ya know - and this is a request for a new feature, not a bug report - since it takes 24+ hours to fully dry anyway, what about engineering a new formula that stays workable over, say, a couple of hours?

@@dgregscottpublicvideos I mixed a 3:1 ratio as directed, • using water - 2/3 of a 32 oz yogurt container, • with 2 containers of powder. It stayed nice and creamy for 20 minutes, Then stiffened up right quick, and dried on the floor in few minutes. Maybe you should use yogurt containers

The instructions I was given on the mixing ratio was 2-1/2" cups powder to 1 part water. First time I'm hearing 3 cups. It would be way too thick with 3. I will say that this needs the 546 additive. I used water instead and it cracked, but the layer I did with additive was extremely solid.

That looks a lot smoother than it did for me when filling gaps and nail holes in plywood subfloor. It went on like wet sand and dried very rough. All the instructions and videos I found said this was good for plywood subfloor under self stick vinyl but now that it's dry i don't think it will stick very well. Can I sand it and prime over it? I was expecting something more like wood filler (which maybe I should have used.)

it applies easily, but no way was 45 min enough drying time. It took 4 to 5 hours to dry to tacky. was applying large format industrial thickness vinyl tiles to a plywood substrate. the Mudroom floor is gorgeous now but what I expected to be a 2 day job max took more than twice that due to the longer drying/wait times for each section.

I checked reviews online and lots of people have the same issues, they are reporting it takes more like 6-8 hours between coats. If it's not dry by tomorrow I'll scoop it all back into the tub and return it. Maybe should have gone for a mix, I don't want to wait all week.

Thanks for that info. I'm thinking of using it to repair a botched job from using Henry 457. I followed the instructions but the dry part of the mix had gotten messed up with the humidity in the air & had already started forming clumps. I wanted to toss it, but friend with me decided to pour it out anyway. Came out like chunky peanutbutter & was harder than rock once it dried. Tried chiseling, hammering, & sanding-- wouldn't work & tore the sandpaper. Had to take an angle grinder to that stuff. So, now I don't trust the stuff I have to mix myself to come out right. I'm willing to wait 8 hours for it to dry if necessary.
