This time he wasn't climbing. He is kneeling on a large horizontal rock with a crack in it. You can understand that by noticing the direction of the trees and the sky. Look closely towards his feet; If he was climbing , then you should have seen the ground not the sky in the background. Also notice that the trees are perpendicular to the rock face, and pointing towards the sky. So he is actually resting on his hands an feet like on a floor.

It's kinda crazy how you say at 3:44 that going around to the top to take a full rest would be cheating and then at 3:58 you say there's a spot to take a full rest.
