NIce name "Isabella" - I run Pods on one 1981 CB750 I call Babe, and with an Airbox on my 79 CB750. Hey my wife also just got her certification State Side. About a bike, originally we got her a Honda rebel 250 CC to train with. Now I have restored the 1981 CB750 that came with PODS. Btw: Just rebuilt the Carbs. They have a vacuum intake and another air duct that can get inadvertently covered by the Pod when connected. I saw a vid ( noted below) where this was accounted for. Im also running richer main jets. She is like a rocket sled - My wife has been training on her at top speed of 40 mph. Slow Speed maneuvers I focus on mostly with her for now - As far as performance difference, my 1979 is stock except for the headers . It has an air box. - with out a full face helmet, your face will peel back under acceleration. The helmet has to be on tight or it will want to leap off. I already rebuilt the 79's carbs a few years back. But if going to a richer jet, I know now how to account for the vacuum and airduct requirements for the Pods if wanting to opt for them - She is at about 80-85 hp now. I figure 90-95 if making that mod - also the stock exhaust was about 60 lbs. The Headers 10 lbs. About experts working on your bike - I found best practices is to be your own mechanic. About being an expert - there is no reason in about two days you could'nt be Isabella's Expert - IMPORTANT - Mixtures will never work if the pods block vacuum ducts ext. ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJKZlZV-brKjqMU ) My idle jets on Babe were a 68 and now are 102's

You are talking about carbs but there are injector bikes bro,they adjust the mix themselves,and we change it for sound not for power
@Substereomusic10 ай бұрын
1- Injection bikes need to be re-mapped, they don't just magically adjust. 2- The sound difference is neglegable. AirPods don't make an exhaust sound. You do you though. Good luck on your bike.
@Substereomusic10 ай бұрын
"If you're increasing airflow into the engine by installing pod air filters, this can significantly impact the air/fuel mixture and may require remapping the fuel injection system. The increased airflow can create a lean condition, meaning there's more air than the stock fuel mapping accounts for, potentially leading to poor performance and engine damage if not addressed. Remapping the fuel injection system after installing pod air filters allows for adjustments to the fuel delivery to ensure the engine receives the proper air/fuel mixture for optimal performance and reliability. It helps to prevent running too lean, which can cause overheating, detonation, and other issues." There are plenty of resources online that explain this. You don't have to take my word for it. Just look into it :-) I sure you will find something easy to understand online 😊

Also, KZbin decided to demonitize everything I do and they pretty much make sure nobody sees my vids unless I pay them for promo, so if I do make more vids, it would really only be for like 50 views and just for the fun of it ...which I might still do :-) ...some day again

Howdy. My 1983 SR500 that I bought last year is a beautiful machine. In 1st 2nd and 3rd gear its a bit clangy ir rattly sound from engine. 4th and 5th gear the sound goes. Is this just the way it us? I'm not sure if the engine was ever opened or overhauled, i guess not. I tried adjust the cam chain but that little bit that's supposed to move in and out whilst engine is running does not. Any ideas? Also, I'd like as a winter project to overhaul the engine, can you recommend a kit? PS; I also adjusted the valve clearance/ensured they are correct.

6 year bike mechanic here. This guy doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. He says DON"T use pod filters on carbureted bikes because it will run lean. First of all you can easily rejet the fuel/air mixture so it isn't too rich or lean. You should also NOT run pod filters on CV carburetors it never works well. Pod filters work great on slide carburetors with proper jetting. Please don't listen to this guy, he's coming from zero experience with pod filters
@submoto3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input Chad, although I'm right here. You can also just tell me 😀 Ok.. fair enough. But as I also said in the video, if you have a badass mechanic like yourself to help you then it's doable. Just like they do for racing. My point is based on speaking with my mechanics who, like yourself, are also very experimental and likewise have strong opinions. In regards to the CV carbs, what they explained is that the whole point with the invention of vacuum carbs was before the invention of fuel injection, where the idea was to mitigate the effects of varying air pressure as a result of altitude variation (like riding through mountains). For this reason the air box creates a micro-climate, which evens that out and allows for mountain riding a varying external climates. PLEASE do tell me if what they told me is wrong. I also said it's easier done on a flat slide. In fact my most recent bike has a flat slide (TM36) and a pod. That's how it came when I bought it. As a result, the engine had run too hot which expanded the cylinder and was burning oil. I had to have it bored out. So the previous owner mounted a pod, he simply looked at the plug colors (probably only on the idle stage color, since as you know, each stage will burn differently) and he effectively ruined the engine. I chose to keep the pod, but I had a team of mechanics to look at it, who had it on a Dyno three times. I have now ridden like this for about 5 years. There is NO performance enhancement (as documented by the Dyno sheet), and Everytime it rains, she sucks in water. It gets ridiculously dirty from city riding and affects the mixture as a result. Looks damned sexy though. I am considering getting an original filter, just because of the rain and dirt factor. So my point stands. - do it if you have a Dyno and mechs - do it if you have a show bike - do it to race - DON'T do it if you think you can determine mixture from plugs color - DON'T do it if you are a daily commuter. Not worth the headache - CV carbs have a micro-climate system, so using a pod kills that function. Like I said. Please correct me if you feel I am wrong. But please be polite. I'm right here. My name is Chris, and I am always open to good arguments.

gave me interest in taking my 1979 engine off the frame. My problem is loss of compression. Ive got everything off the engine but my manual states to open the primary. I have a question. Some videos ago you said that a Battery Eliminator would solve a lot of your problems, as much as reduce a lot of space. It does in fact look really neat, but you also said that the problem would be that the clock and other long term electronics would be bugged without a real battery. How did that turn out in the end? Does the eliminator keep minimum charge anyway? Any info would be appreciated! Love this playlist anyway, I'd really like to find as many people as you do with this passion <3
@subtalksbysubstereo94203 жыл бұрын
the eliminator is really cool. there are a lot of options out there. but when the bike is off, there is no power. If you have analogue gear, then it's not a problem. Many countries require you to be able to turn on the light when the engine is off, so if this is the case in Italy, you may not get through the inspection. Another option is just to get a cheap gel battery. it will undoubtedly die, but will then function similarly to an eliminator. I currently have a battery in mine. It's not much bigger than a wallet and costs 10€. When it dies, I'll just get a new one

Gators made in Asia are all made of a vinyl compound, not rubber. Priced at 20 dollars a pair maximum. If you pay more than that you are not a wise shopper because they are all made of the same material. English gators are made of rubber. Priced at 30 dollars a pair they will last 50+ years. WD-40 eats vinyl and dries out rubber, thus degrading rubber. Install dry and leave em dry. Silicone is not advised if you desire longevity. Soap and water and perhaps some Tire Shine in a pinch for stains.

U can go for synthetic rubber.. bt i think they wont protect your oil seal better than the rubber as they wont be as much flexible than rubber.. so if love your suspension then always put a gator on.. The air filter BOX plays and essential role in providing the correct performance at the right rpm, thus making the bike drivable. With a proper design of the box, one reduces intake noise and tunes the pressure waves at intake for a certain rpm rance, so that combustion chamber is optimally field - for THAT rpm range. Optimal means also considering fuel consumption.
