Just watched through the whole playlist and i have got to say, that thing turned out really good! It looks as if it was built by some really professional custom builder and even with GoPro it sounds amazing! Being a little jealous now... :D

haha :-p thanks. I appreciate it

What a great job!!!!! I would use hose clamps instead to wire to secure the heat wrap..
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
thanks :-) I was considering that. so far the wire has held up, and is virtually invisible. but if it snaps, I'm going with wire clamps for sure

+SUBMOTO you have inspired me.... I know EXACTLY what my end result will be..... Im goin bike shopping for something with a Parrallel Twin engine...

Nice look! knew it would turn out good haha. it makes the pipes look a bit thicker so the bike has a bit more overall balance. thx for showing the process =)
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah :-D I didn't even think of the fact that it would 'thicken' the pipe up visually :-p bonus! Thanks for pointing that out
@MidwestMotoRider8 жыл бұрын
NICE! Yea I found out that paint works on the wrap as well I did it and a year later the pipes are still black and I am hoping its protecting my headers.. Fingers crossed!
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thanks. I was really curious as to how well that would hold up in time
@ChrisSpoonerTV8 жыл бұрын
I love the idea of painting it. The wrap on my bike has gone from black to light grey to almost white in places.

I can't wait to see how long the paint lasts
@monkeyzeetube8 жыл бұрын
cool..Nice to watch you again bro..Bike looks great with the wrap. Lucky you with a single Cylinder, I had to wrap my 2 pipes..
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
Hehe, yeah I was thinking that while I was wrapping :-p
@madmaxbobber89368 жыл бұрын
Nice man turned out real good. Like the 1 inch wrap(I think it's 1 inch) as well for that bike, the tighter spacing looks clean.
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm glad I used the 1 inch. It looks really subtle, and complements the bike quite well

Usually a good idea to put the end under a wrap, just in case the tie fails.

cool thanks :-)

Ahhhh yesssss, wrap that pipe! I would never have though about painting it in High temp paint. What would be the benefit of doing so?
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
The paint is primarily to keep that black color. The heat has a tendency to make the original wrap go grey or white in time. The heat resistant paint should last longer. I also found out through google searches, that the paint helps protect against the elements (rain, dirt etc...)

Something for you or your buddies to try the next time you do a wrap. Use stainless steel wire ties wider bite and looks clean kinda like the stainless bit on the slip on muffler. Looks like these: www.dimecitycycles.com/8-stainless-steel-tie-wraps-black-4-ct.html They also have a style that you use a punch to tighten down, those are the ones i prefer-but thats personal preference. The other trick is at the end cut some extra, fold it, feed it under the previous layer and then twist it nice and tight so it matches the beginning and has no chance to fray being at the hottest end. Good job on painting the wrap. If you can find it, look for a good silicone based paint whenever you do it. Which the paint you used might actually be, so that worked out great in your favor.

Hey yeah! I didn't even know those existed! I'll have to remember that next time! :-D

No problem, as you say in a few of your vids. We are all learning together and I am doing my part to help where I can. My build when i get the parts together for it, will be a Restomod '83 suzuki gs1100 and heat wrap will be a must to keep heat in the exhaust from flushing back onto the oil/air cooled 4cylinder engine.

Hey sub :-) I'm looking to wrap the pipe on my K100, which is a 4-1 pipe setup. How would you go about making the areas where the pipe splits off to the engine look neat? Obviously I could start new runs of the wrap for the individual headers, but I'm not sure it'll look right with that much wire holding on the start and end every time? Other option is to give the shorter sections a wider spacing, and double back with the wrap, back to the main pipe?
@ViceVersaMusik18 жыл бұрын
Now you should paint the Motor, and that bike will look new again
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
I was considering that, but everyone I know who has painted their engine, have had problems with paint flaking off after just a few years, so I decided not to

Gjorde du noget specielt omkring beslaget på udstødningen?, eller viklede du bare forbi.. Fed cykel i øvrigt :-) :-) :-).. Mvh Lars

Tak :-) jeg viklede bare udenom, og prøvede at holde det så lige som muligt foran. Det blev faktisk ok, man kan næsten ikke se det

Great vidéo ! :) I wanted to change my exaust to put a "megaphone" like yours but i can't remove my exaust from the pipe. I think i have to cut off a piece of the exaust, am i right ? If somebody don't understand my english, tell me
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
I would just saw it off. I had to sawit off on my SR250, because the original muffler was welded on. It will be just fine :-)
@iMy7Aze8 жыл бұрын
+SUBMOTO Oh great ! Thank you !! Did you use à special saw ?
@submoto8 жыл бұрын
+Gamma Sku just a regular old hacksaw (metal saw) :-)
@iMy7Aze8 жыл бұрын
+SUBMOTO And then did you have to weld the new exaust to/on the pipe ?
