Ford should give us 6.4 owners new trucks free of charge because they knowingly sold us a defective product in the first place. Nothing but heartache with mine. I can't believe there hasn't been a class action lawsuit on these trucks yet.

When removing the back banjo bolt to check defense is there a universal banjo bolt with a test valve??? To monitor both ports at the same time? Are just remove it to see the defense when hooked to the front test valve? Asking for greenhorns education!

7.3 made it difficult for Ford to make money, so they made JUNK engines after so that they could recover from the Loses from the Great 7.3. I will never buy a Ford Diesel again. My 2008 is my last. My 7.3 has been in a shop 2 times, 1-for rusting in fuel tank & 2- water pump and it has over 300K. My 08 has been in & out (approx. 5 times) of shops in the last 6 years with a Lose of $8K. Twice because of the High Pressure Fuel Pump in 4 years!! Time to sell it and eat my loses. 7.3 still running strong too.
@karlmcclellan59423 жыл бұрын
It all about maintenance. I have 2 6.7 that come in with around 800k miles. Both have original pumps. If you maintain your 6.4 like a 7.3 no wonder your putting pumps in it nonstop. 7.3 have plenty of problems and they don't make enough power to hurt themselves. Your point is mute... But the 6.4 design went in the trash for a good reason.

@@karlmcclellan5942 I have a 2014 with the CP4 fuel pump. When I bought the truck I knew about the issues the CP4 fuel pump. I would change my fuel filter at no more than 15k miles and usually ever oil change. I also had selected stations I would buy diesel from. When on the road I only used Pilot or Loves truck stops and would plan my stops accordingly. On top of that I put Ford diesel treatment in at every fill up. When I hear people talk about lack of maintenance causing these fuel pump failures I boil over. There was nothing more I could have done to prevent the two fuel pump failures and complete fuel system replacements in 3 years I have had. The pump has a know design flaw with the plunger/roller turning in the sleeve that no maintenance will prevent. Ram used the CP4 in 2019 to 2021 and recognized the problem and has issue a recall in Jan 2022 to replace the CP4 with the CP3. When will Ford step up, do what right and follow suit.

@@benniebenson7131 Boil over all you want. after 10 years in the industry i know what i see. Your acting live every truck has or will have pump failure. This is just simply not the case. 80% of the truck i work on still have the original pump. Most of these truck are over 170k and maintain their trucks. I change more short blocks under warranty then i change pumps. But if all you do is look for people complaining on the internet i could see how your view gets distorted from what the actual problem is.
@benniebenson71313 жыл бұрын
@@karlmcclellan5942 I understand your reply. But if 80% of the trucks you work on still have the original pump 20% have had pumps replaced. That is not a good track record and it kinda supports my point. Just wish Ford would accept responsibility for a low quality piece of equipment like Ram is doing. Either way thanks for your reply and you are right you can always find information on the internet to support what ever position you want to enforce.

I baby sat my F350 for ten years. At 70K miles, I purchased an extended warranty for $6,000 for 60K miles. Easily paid for itself. At 130K miles I attempted to purchase another extended warranty. Ford told me to kick rocks. Mechanically the truck was still solid, but computer and electrical problems were beginning to cause multiple head aches. It's a shame, but I got a divorce from Ford. In 2002 I got a divorce from Chevy. I also got a divorce from Dodge this year after my Rubicon spent two months in the shop for similar computer/electrical issues. TOYOTA HERE I COME.

165K and not a single mechanical issue outside of a coolant line. That's what happens when you push 600hp on stock components. Emission delete, Religious maintenance, Godly engine.
@wcsoblake8510 ай бұрын
Man, you had me laughing so damn hard! But, it's kinda true. I have spent $15K getting mine right. My mechanic took the cab off and did everything necessary to prevent the heads from separating again and replaced/upgraded a bunch of other stuff while the cab was off. Also deleting all the emissions bull crap helped mine run so much better. I went from 15mpg to 25-28mpg under normal driving but it is so hard not to spool up that turbo and scoot down the road. I am currently replacing my radiator with a Mishimoto one. The body bushings were worn out and it put stress on the radiator and it has to be replaced. I used to drive JDM cars and Mishimoto made some awesome stuff so I'm going to try their radiator on my truck.
