when trees grow-up in unused places they're thin and spindly although the canopy is pretty much complete. There is also plenty of understory in the woods, especially in a place like New Jersey. when trees grow up with plenty of space and light, they're bushy the trees provided by the game are mostly the bushy type. This is great for landscapiing trees, but forest trees they are not. In Connecticut, as one example, over 90% of our land was clear-cut less than 100 years ago. Our woods/forests are all under 100 years old. We are witness to the first succession of trees that have grown to replace the cleared land, and the thicket that grows as understory. We also have plenty of "Sylvan" in rural Connecticut. You can't see the road from the sky through the trees stretching across it (while the electric company makes its way to eventually clear it...)

I’m so happy to see someone appreciating the strange ways NYC and NJ near it have built up. It’s easy to dismiss the industrial areas and ports, and the strange highways, but there’s a beauty to them and a history of how they came to look like that. I love playing CS to be able to build out parts of NYC or JC or Hoboken or such that better reflect that reality and history.

30:19 I believe you can make those functional when you place them as expansions of the base buildings, out of range just using anarchy.

17:00 😃 OH you should make one of the lines the ‘Holland America Line’, which used to be the line from Rotterdam to NYC. Now it’s a big company with many cruises, but that’s their origin.

Such a shame to see this guy go from detailing so heavily in City Skylines to playing this, all the same assests. Not his fault but the game sucks.

I think one of the issues is that you got a small population, I live in a small european city around the same size as that, and industry like that for a city like mine i would imagine wouldn't really work either, there is just not enough workers, i think its best if you grow the city by double or triple and only then should the industry area work properly, I mean literally the best comparison i could give this industry area is the industry at the major rotterdam ports, a large city in my country, a port industry area like that needs a large city to fit with it

Yes, that’s all fine, but don’t believe yourself that you are ACTUALLY designing a city that works from an urban design perspective.. placing random buildings doesn’t make a city..

Enjoyable. And I like modeling in the game, too. But I wish these type of designs would spawn and grow over time, themselves.

For that covered highway which afaik you haven’t taken on yet, I think you could maybe stack two lane highways inside the canyon to get the sides closer together.
