I feel you girl!! In the exact same situation as you now! I'm busy teaching in Iraq, and making $1500 per month with free housing and VISA though. When you said "I was given a textbook and one hour to make up a lesson off the top of my dome" it felt like it was myself saying that! I am so ready to quit being an ESL teacher. I think you should try teaching in China though. When I was there I got paid a fair salary, was given the lesson plans, class materials and a fair schedule per week. It was a great experience teaching in China. The only downside for me there was that I never felt like I fit in there, and felt really lonely in China.

Wow this is truly sad and thank you so much for posting this along with those other videos that had those annoying dudes harassing you and and your friend. It really gives a good insight to how Japan will be for foreigners (or maybe some foreigners since some foreigners say they luckily don’t experience this ) I wish that didn’t happen to you love😢❤ the system is messed up is what it seems like. They don’t take woman serious or what happened to them and it’s so sad but it angers me because those dirty men gets to have the last laugh.

I am sorry that the Japanese people acted rudely and made you feel uncomfortable. At first, they say such obscene words that I don't even want to translate them. Then they woo these girls and ask them vulgar and prejudiced questions. In Japan, 99.9% of the men who pick up girls on the street are sleazy, so just ignore them and leave quickly. Please be careful😭 I used Google Translate, so the text may be incorrect.

I knew something traumatic happened to you based off how you spoke in the hoeing in japan 101 video. Your eyes are exhausted and you seem really down. It's so sad to see how many women go through this exact process of going through sexual trauma, not getting justice, and then trying to cope in a way that's self destructive. It's painful to know this is so so common. Hope you find peace and healing.

I am sorry for what happened to you. I hope that you seek help from a trauma psychologist and will be open to it. If you have experienced this much pain and trauma in Japan I suggest you leave. There are a lot of Asian countries that are safer and their rules are stricter, making it safer. It’s never safe to get drunk in public so I hope even with friends dont do this. Never accept drinks from strangers. Always have a panic button with you as a deterrent. It will attract attention and you can run to the nearest police station. Never hesitate. Avoid staying out too late esp if you’re alone. Again, I am sorry for these traumatic experiences . It’s not your fault. Remember these men are predators.

Hi Morena, thank you so much for sharing your story on KZbin, I know that you must have passed through a lot of mental hurdles in finally deciding to share your story with us. I empathise so much with what you have been through, in or outside of Japan. I understand that you are more than a victim, but I must relay my statement of solidarity and support to you as a victim. The reason why your video came up was because I wanted to understand how or what rape culture in Japan is. The reason why I wanted to find out about that was because I’m trying to make an analysis essay on my Tumblr about Tadaima, Okaeri ep 11. Your video gave me anecdotal understanding about the rape culture in Japan. I hope that it’s okay for me to share your video on my Tumblr post as one of the sources. Again, thank you so much for sharing your story

You are talking about racism you experienced in Japan , but people you mentioned mostly were not Japanese. What do we(Japanese) supposed to do? By the way why do we have to relate to BLM while black people are mocking and assaulting Asian people? We would be appreciated if black people considered black people's racism against Asian people.

I Literally loved the satire hoeing videos tho, they were funny and so real. I can’t believe you were dealing … well I can because the world is a fucked up place.. you’ve always been true to yourself and so damn real in the way you talked. That to me always made you stand out. I’m sorry you’re a victim to the Internet bs. I hope you can be stronger than the violence pushed upon you, I hope you can see your supporters through the hate. Much love from Va 💝

Oh, it brings my piss to a boil when Japanese people jump on the nearest convenient cause rally just to feel like they're a part of something exotic. They don't actually give a shit, and will forget about it the next day. People like that tend to be very shallow trend chasers. I've lived here 16 years so far, and have come to realize that the longer I live here, the longer I observe the ways that tatemae masks the overwhelming amount of racist sentiment there is among Japanese people. I'm just a white, harmless, little old lady by now, and I still hear comments from time to time. Most recently, some little shit kid made the comment very loudly to their friend as I was walking home from the supermarket - down my street in the neighborhood I've lived in for almost the entire time I've been here, and where everyone knows me - "Oh, look at the suspicious people! Dangerous!!!" Where does an 8 year old learn that kind of language? Parents, of course. Grandparents, of course. Passing racism down through the generations is still alive and well. Just because they're restricting their hateful comments to their own dinner tables doesn't mean it's not happening. Just because they're smiling and acting politely to you in a shop doesn't mean they haven't just shit all over foreigners to their coworker last time they were annoyed by a tourist bumbling around. It's all just a show, and we either have to accept it, or it'll just eat us up from the inside out. Part of living and flourishing here is being able to tolerate (not accept with open arms, though) that It Is What It Is, and continue living our lives here around the people and things we love and enjoy - and which support us as human beings on the planet, rather than stereotypes. There's something a lot more insidious about Japanese racism, too, because it usually only comes out here in passive-aggressive ways, or as - what we used to call - "microaggressions". Or you see it online, which only reinforces the fact that people are cowardly and would never say what they really feel to anyone's face. At least in places like the US, if someone's a straight up racist, they make it very clear from the jump, or by doing or saying something unmistakeable. You know exactly who they are. You then have the choice to respond and confront them, or walk away - but you're never left wondering. As disgusting as it is to be directly harassed, I'd still rather have that than be dealing with a two-faced coward...and here, sadly, we're surrounded by them. I salute you for sticking it out this long - especially through COVID, when all foreigners became the disease-spreading enemy. Wasn't that a joy? I really hope you have a strong support system to fall back on while you're here, and I hope you're able to find a have in that one thing we all need to keep us staying here. That one thing that keeps you interested in the culture. Maybe family members or friends who truly accept you for who you are. Keep on keeping on, and don't let the bad part of Japanese culture (the two-faced, passive-aggressive shit) get you down. You sound like you've been doing great for yourself! ❤

I appreciate your sharing. I just experienced a couple of instances of racism at the airport in Tokyo during a long layover. Knowing what you've dealt with let's me know it could've been worse. Besides, I did have a good experience with one person who went out of her way to assist me when I needed a lot of help. Just sad to have to travel this far to be reminded that racism exists. Any other person would've cursed them out but I can't afford to get into a bad sitch while on the clock. Really pissed me off but I gotta move on else I'll have let them succeed at throwing me off balance while I waste time wondering if I actually SHOULD'VE fought ugly with ugly.
