This has been very instructional. My biggest trouble is conceptualizing the move Act Under Pressure. Specifically what it means when a player rolls a 7-9. What does it mean when a scenario calls for a "worse outcome" "hard choice" or "price to pay"? Is there a good example? Thank you!

Go watch the dungeon dudes games play. They mess up some mechanics, so be careful, but he does good at making snap decisions for 7-9

TaleSpire is so cool, but I just can't get over the way the tiles are identical, and the elevation changes aren't smooth. It's like 90% awesome and 10% Lego.

So me either, I just set everything up and I think this plays the same way it would have in the 80s when everyone gathered at the DMs house, puled out their Gary Gygax books, their character card and dice and roll played. Only instead of pencils and real dice, that part is done online and instead of everyone at the same house, you are all in a chat. If you want a D&D videogame experience, the only way you'll get that is by playing Baldur's Gate 3

I have watched/listened to many videos to get an answer to a question I had. This was the first to offer the answer I needed. But the answer didn't come easily. Let me explain. I am visually impaired and thuis have issues locating tabs and such. Wherein you talked about what I was looking for, but only offered advice like "click here" etc without any indication as to where here might be. I am sure I am not the only VIP (visually impaired person) to try and use D&D Beyond, and I am sure many would agree to present such a teaching video in high contrast would help even more people. But in the meantime, Thanks fo the answer I sought.

Now you find a group to play with! You can try to find a game in the D&D Discord server, or, if you'd like to pay for a professional GM, you can find a game almost immediately at StartPlaying.games. Good luck and happy adventuring!

Your DM should be able to send you a link to their campaign by going to "collections" > "my campaigns" > "view campaign" on the campaign they want to invite you to, then hit "copy link".

How taxing is this on a pc? I have a friend who doesn't have a great pc and I'm concerned this may run poorly on his machine. What are your specs?

Honestly, trying to be a full-time pro DM would be incredibly hard. The burnout issue is super real. People (players) flake out constantly, which directly impacts your income, just all of it. Seems like it'd be best to just have one or two campaigns on the side. Which sounds like it's difficult because of the platform/advertisment/market saturation issues. Best of luck man!

Hasbro/Wizards of the Coast just tried to revoke the 23 yr Open Game License and steal 25% off most creators and make content creation unprofitable. 50 yrs of D&D just died due to corporate greed. Everyone is going to Paizo's ORC or their own systems. If you have a D&D Beyond subscription, please unsubscribe.

Or you can just stay with the old D&D some of us never left. Still playing 2nd ed, and playing Gygax's Greyhawk on fG & ROLL20.....it's still a blast, and if you can't find all resources on PDF online you fail at the internet. DCC is also awesome, and Troll Lord just made C&C a free download. There's plenty of options. WOTC/Hasbro were absolute idiots for pushing this. AD&D will never die, but there is no reason to play newer versions that are not as fun, and want to just suck money.

On D&D Beyond, you can only select content (including races) from the Basic Rules (which is free), content you've purchased on D&D Beyond, or content your DM has campaign shared with you through the Master Subscription.

I just downloaded Talespire today but my laptop is so slooooooow… so it’s not as smooth as shown in your video :( do you have any recommendations of gaming laptop that will be smooth like this but a budget friendly one? I just need it to run Talespire like this.. thanks in advance for any advice..

TaleSpire's Steam page store.steampowered.com/app/720620/TaleSpire/ has its system requirements, so you're looking for a machine that matches or exceeds the recommended requirements for a smooth experience. I used a HP Custom Desktop (hp.com) in this video. However, choosing the right laptop for you is a complex process outside the scope of the KZbin comments section!

@@adamtwright Hi Adam thanks for your reply, yes I did look it up and had the minimum requirements covered in the first laptop I bought, and turned out it could not run Talespire still.. After a bit of a search I finally decided to return it and exchanged to Lenovo ideapad gaming 3 instead (the entry spec) and now my Talespire runs sooo smoothly! Thanks for your reply and I like your videos! Keep it up!!

Does anyone have any experience with Talespire? I use Owlbear and Dnd Beyond, and I'm not sure if there's a point to using Talespire other than the look of it. What are the advantages, and are they worth the extra effort? It looks great, but what else is there?

TaleSpire is a niche VTT largely focused on visuals and a 3D environment. It doesn't have better game system management Owlbear Rodeo. It's not for everyone!

@@voldlifilm Give it a shot! :-) It's a delight to build in and you can get thousands of free maps via TalesTavern - Plus they've introduced Symbiotes now, the first form of official modding for the game. This opens up for integrating better with other systems etc. I'm not an expert, but I love building in TaleSpire.

I wish this did track hit points. It would make it so much easier and faster to track everything, but this is the best thing short of having actual rules and character sheets in the game.

TaleSpire does kinda track hit points. When you right-click on a character, you'll see a bunch of popups bubbles. One bubble stores two numbers -- I use these for current HP and AC. They're intended for max and current HP.

TaleSpire doesn't use any game system within itself, so you can just forget about the extension and use TaleSpire's in-game dice to play any system you'd like, including 3.5

Yeah, TaleSpire is a very new and niche VTT, so there's not a lot of information out there. Here are some common issues I've seen with my players: Make sure you have any other extension that modifies D&D Beyond -- like Beyond 20 -- turned off. Make sure you don't have anything blocking browser extensions, like antivirus software. Modifying the game files of TaleSpire may cause issues with Beyond the Spire. I can try to help you out, but I don't know much more than I put in this video. You can message me on Discord at adamTwright#5989.

@@adamtwright thank you sir. I managed to get it working. It doesn't like it if you have the game up first, then pull up your character sheet. Seems like letting the Extension launch your game does the trick.

I want to get this, but I don't have any friens that like this kinda stuff. :( How do I play with people? Is it like d20 and other TTS, like do I go to dndbeyond or sometehing and find people using it? How do I nerd out?! Will it work with Pathfinder 2e as well as dnd 6e?????????????????????

@@evolgenius1150 TaleSpire isn't a game in itself; it's a virtual tabletop like Roll20, Fantasy Grounds, or Foundry. It doesn't have any built-in game mechanics, so you can use it with all tabletop RPGs and their editions, like D&D, Pathfinder, and Cyberpunk. Finding a group to play with is the same as finding a group with any ttRPG. I would recommend going to talespire.com and clicking "Join us on Discord", then checking the 'Looking for Group' channels. I also happen to run D&D games on TaleSpire for a living, so if you've got some spare cash, you can check out my games at startplaying.games/gm/adam
