Thank You so much!!! i'm transposing it to guitar, but i'll play it on piano too. I couldn't figure out if that was a G or an F# in the bass line. electric pianos have like a weird undertone effect that confuses me if there's any form of chromatic changes. Thanks so much.

I agree wholeheartedly!!! I dont go to see a fantastic artist like this to hear the audience sing..they cant come close to doing it justice!
@djeurosham12 жыл бұрын
This is exactly correct. I had to leave the show in Nashville because of the drunk douchebags behind me singing atonally to the music. I was there to hear the fucking concert.

@MaxstertheBard211 Don't take his lyrics too seriously. He's a humanist. He doesn't, for a fact, believe in a deity. His lyric's spirituality are concerned more with the ideas around pantheism. Watch some of his newer interviews.

@kookykaymo yeah thats part. but also he said something about how he thinks a song is never fully finished. So live he decides to change it up to a different way he thought after he recorded it.

can someone please tell me what guitar mr oberst is using here?
@MaxstertheBard21113 жыл бұрын
@BurningOrchids He changes his opinion a lot. Remember, he's been making music since he was 14, with Bright Eyes since 17, and he's now 31. My understanding from his more recent stuff is he's in this Neo-Spirituality sort of phase. But at the same time, some of The People's Key's lyrics really point to some sort of faith. Definitely not mainline Christian, but some sort of redeeming god figure... I guess the most you can do is pray and hope he figures it out.

@coloringbooker you mean in this video or just now? in the video its with Bright Eyes, this was pre-Mystic, I do believe. its a Bright Eyes show. hope that helps!

@fuckme1nce The way I personally see it, there is no definite meaning. I'm sure maybe when he was writing it, it was specific to something in his life but now its basically yours. What I'm trying to say is that music is open for interpretation, so in my opinion the meaning is whatever it means to you. And theres no right or wrong or definite answer. =) Thats whats so amazing about music and art in general. Sorry if I'm no help at all haha

This is possibly one of my favorite Bright Eyes songs. A part of me hated how short it is, at first but at the same time it means so much and is so powerful despite being short. Very few songs have the power of this one, with just the emotions and lyrics and everything. <3 Also I love the lyric change as well and that he does that live and can pull it off without it taking away from the original, if anything its even more special. Conor is a genius...such a beautiful mind.

@blackscarlet512 , well put. I agree that Conor is closer to folk but it is very deeply felt emotional music regardless of the genre.
