I really enjoy the design process and how it exposes the working of the mind. From a manufacturing perspective I would question it but it looks so cool. I would have been happy to come up with it. Thank you very much Lynn. Ps nice hat!!

Even with the space, I like the revised box. Very nice
@scotttovey19 сағат бұрын
That's a nice design Linn. In painting the hinge piece, you can paint or burn an arrow onto it. On the box side, you can add the words, open and closed which the arrow on the hinge will point too when it's in that position.

Good system, but it can still be improved!

I think the revision is quite an elegant solution - and the box looks nicer, IMO. I wonder if a parameterized cutting file would be a viable product. User enters desired length, width, and depth of box and out pops a file to control the cutter. Do laser cutters work off a common format, like STL for 3D printers? Nice box and interesting video, Linn.

I've been making my own linseed bees wax oil for a few years now. I get some excellent results with it. I usually make a 4:1 for my furniture polish but I also make a 3:1 mix for my machine tops and that seems to work really well as the raw wood scrapes/rubs off any excess and what transfers onto a finished surface, if I'm going to finish the piece with something else, sands off easily.

That's nice for a soft wax finish, but you should try to make an hard wax finish too, especially for your wood pieces. For an hard wax finish, you need to add an hardner like pine's rosin (colophonia). It's obviously more durable and anti-scratch than the soft wax

Thanks Darbin, I recently purchased a 2020 EV Bolt. Great car so far. We are rural, most round trip driving is well within our home base with the furthest one way distance being about 120Km. With climate control on, we can easily make our trips and charge at home. Setting up the car to charge on time of use rates saves a lot of coin as well. With one pedal driving/braking, its really a much nicer experience than conventional driving. Thanks for your vid,

I've used linseed wax 2:1 as a end grain sealer for logs. It works well so long as the logs aren't in direct sunlight all day.

So, you just put a screw into wooden block to secure the blade of the cutting plough... When you need to sharpen the blade, you unscrew and screw again... How many times can you do it before the screw becomes lose? I do not like this design...

There are fuses built into the combiner box connections. It's in the video part where I assemble it.

How much time it needs to dry after applied?
@darbinorvar9 күн бұрын
Not much time is needed, a few minutes or you can leave it longer if you want before buffing out the excess.

I think clay pots evaporate water as well (hence why they can be used as air conditioning if you do it right)...so maybe you could keep water from evaporating out the sides of your pots that way...but then again in the summer, that evaporation may help keep the plants cooler.

Great video Linn. Here's another tip for your wax polish. Locks. If you don't have lock ease on hand and your locks are sticking, put some of that wax paste on a key and insert it into the lock and work it back and forth.

Hello, good afternoon, I wanted to ask you how many coats I could give to a piece of wood, the number of coats that one wants, letting it dry and removing the excess with a section, let's say something like 10 coats, there is no limit.
@darbinorvar9 күн бұрын
You could add as many coats as you want, however the wood is only going to absorb the oil up to a point. I don't think more than two or three coats at one time makes much sense for the most part.

7:45 beeswax is edible/food-safe?
@scotttovey10 күн бұрын
Bees make bees wax to form the walls of their hive where they store honey. You can take a chunk, stick it in your mouth and chew on it to get the honey out.
@darbinorvar9 күн бұрын
As long as the beeswax is natural and not treated in some weird way or mixed with other things, it's absolutely fine.

Last year someone got my wife and I an advent puzzle, it was a really cool idea. You open a little box of pieces per day and do a patch of the puzzle. It would be way better if it were a high quality wood puzzle that you could feel satisfied in doing every year, especially with a nice case as you've made here. Guess I'll have to look into making a wood puzzle
