Oh my Gabi….this video is so very useful for weaving in our ends, and thank you so very, very much for explaining how & why you do it the way you do it. I can’t remember learning this part when started, and when you say cut your tails about 1/2” after you weave it….is great to hear why, because I cut mine short and when I blocked it, it definitely ended up somewhere else, so now that I understand and have experienced it, I will be a much better weaver, so thank you so very, very much for this awesome video Gabi 🥰

Thank you, Bonnie, for your detailed feedback! These are very useful and encouraging words to me, but hopefully also to others. You point out something that is only part of the "big" story but is very important to successful crafting: When and how to clip the tails.

Lol! Thank you for your kind comment, Jamie. Now, here is the "good" news ... when you have prepared your squares like shown in this video, the edging looks like the edging on a granny square and is ready for any crochet join that you can find on the Internet, and there are many, many, many ...

A very lovely video, and now I can see why my corners don’t look great like yours…. I was doing 3 chain stitches, so now by watching your great video, I will be much better💝 Also when I can to the end of the crocheting around my square, I would put a couple of knots in, and it made it look terrible, and I see you just put it through the stitches and do no knots, so thanks for the great video that will make me a much better crochet person 👍

Thank you for pointing this out, Karen! When I record my instruction videos, I try to zoom in as much as possible so that the crafters can see as much as possible. Keeping the looms "centered" at all times at this view is not easy, but I make sure that the videos show everything needed before I upload them. Different viewing media may have different "windows" to show KZbin videos, and it is not possible to check them all. Here are some workarounds that may help to adjust the view on your phone: - Hold the phone sideways while viewing the video, allowing your phone to use the different real estate of that angle. - If you notice that something is cut off a little on your screen and you want to view that particular part, zoom in at that given time and move the screen to view the moment in question that way (one thing I like about KZbin video instructions is that you can pause at any time and go back and forth as needed with just a click). - If you are using the KZbin app, try to the video through a browser instead and go to the KZbin website to view the video that way. Click on the "maximize screen" button which might give you the right adjustment to see it without it being cut off a little. I hope this helps! Lastly, if you get stuck on a particular step on how to weave on the triangle loom and you find the video not to be sufficient to answer your question, you can always contact us and we will help you that way.

Okay, it is 3:30 at night here, I couldn't sleep because I was thinking about my garden plan (we're redoing the garden as per my request) and I needed a snack. But then I found the triangle loom video. Do you know what I tried to design the last time I couldn't sleep? A foldable/click-into-place big loom, because I have all this wool but absolutely not the neck strength to knit or crochet fancy patterns and I also low key just want to make a blanket or a rug that doesn't drive me to tears when I can't even finish the first row without getting a headache. And also I don't have the space for a loom that makes a 3x3 meter rug. I did design the loom and it's pretty neat. But this.... This is way easier and it's a small half an hour thingy, I can do one and just... Walk away again. And I don't have to block it (it blocked itself) and then just sew them together. 😮 I love it.

You have discovered the beauty of "modular weaving"! Indeed, those little pieces of self-contained fabric weave up quickly, and you can sew them together as you go. I have my annual "low-stress patchwork project" where I do just that ... it sounds like this could be something you might enjoy ... and shrink your yarn stash over time (no guarantees on the latter, though) ...

Why not just wave them together as a mattress stitch?
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC 8 ай бұрын
Good question! The mattress stitch works well at the edges where you wove back and forth. At the edges where you wove continuous strand, you want to reduce the bias stretch a little bit, which is easiest done with a simple whip stitch.

Thank you! I have a lovely 4 inch Hazel Rose loom I bought a few years ago somewhere but, unfortunately, I think it may have got lost in my house move. I have ordered a set of 3 looms in different sizes and needed a refresher as to how to weave on them! You have made such an excellent explanation of all the steps and I eagerly await my looms! Random question: have you ever done a video on left hand weaving? I have a left handed child, and I either need to learn things left handed, to teach her, or do in front of her to mirror me. I ask, because your videos are the easiest to follow.
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC Жыл бұрын
Hi Rebecca, I have not done a left-handed video for this particular bias-weave on a Zoom loom, but when nobody is watching (haha) I'm using the same approach that is shown here left-handedly, because I'm a left-hander! There's a SIMPLE RULE FOR ALL BIAS-SQUARE WEAVING THAT IS USEFUL FOR LEFT-HANDED PEOPLE: Instead of working clockwise, you work counter-clockwise. This means, you start at the top of the loom as shown, but then you guide the working yarn along the right side of the center. The weaving tool is in the left hand ... you go under/over from the left to the right ... pull the yarn through from the right to the left ... and then you guide the working thread up on the left side to the next available pin on that side. That's all there is to it, everything else is the same. Give it a try, and if you need more help, feel free to contact me.

You "can" weave rectangles on the Zoom loom, but it's a little bit fiddly. If you are a subscriber to the Little Looms magazine, look for Jennifer Chapman's Child's Basket Weave Capelet which shows some pictures how to do it (littlelooms.com/library/64095856/).

Hello, I just bought this pin loom and found your video, I really enjoy it. I've been looking for a hook and yours is perfect. However I look for the afghan hook and it's not like the one you are using. It's just a hook. Have I made a mistake? Could you help me please? Thank you .
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if I understand your message correctly ... You can use any crochet hook, and the afghan hooks are long enough to weave all across. In the video I'm using a "locker hook" which is a weaving tool that looks like a crochet hook at one end and it has an eye of a needle at the other end. The hook end is a little bit extended, which holds the yarn more easily. Hope this helps!

If you want to have just a square and not attach other squares, what is the best way to weave in the tails?
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC Жыл бұрын
That is a very good question! You have options ... and you can just pick what you like best. I also sometimes use different ways for different yarns. (1) Weave in the ends along the sides. That's what I use most of the times. The sides have those nice loopy turns, and I usually weave in the ends through each of those turns along one side of the square. If you cut it at the corner, it's not too visible. (2) Weave the ends back into the weaving. Weaving back into the weaving half way (so you end at the center) is sufficient. With this method, the tail is less encouraged to "travel out", but depending on which yarn you're using, it might be more visible. Tip, no matter the method: Weave in the ends, then block/wash your square before you clip the ends. During blocking the tails settle, so you have a cleaner cut of the ends.

Is there a way to weave a triangle on a Weave-it style pin sett?
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC
@BluebonnetCraftersLLC Жыл бұрын
Yes, you can use the method that is shown in this video on the Zoom loom. For the best weaving experience I recommend that you put the needle across the loom from corner 4 to 1. Put the slip knot of your yarn over the first pin on corner 4, then start weaving towards corner 3. Just weave the pins as they appear and ignore the spaces. The fabric will "settle" when you take your triangle off the loom.

Nicely done. I like the way that every loop adds one more warp thread on each side so you always fetch the weft by starting UNDER that new warp thread because that will go OVER the previous warp thread. Also it is worth pointing out that as you are inserting weft from the top and the bottom with the exact same shed when they meet in the middle they will always form in pairs until you draw the last SINGLE thread that will split the paired shed with the final opposite shed. I have never had occasion to use such a loom or try diagonal weaving but most informative video.
