I hate when people say sabbath was done after vol 4! Their 2 best albums came out directly after vol 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage. Both masterpieces

47:10 Al Cisneros just verbalized something I'd thought about listening music as a child; hoping for more of the good parts. I did not know at the time there was a solution for wanting more of the good, and didn't realize until now that Al Cisneros had provided the solution years later. And he did a good thing. While I personally consider Al a musical genius for so much orginiatliy in his body of work, I think someone could say he's a genius just for the sole fact the he identified the need for more of the good stuff and then handled it. Super sick upload by the way.

This documentary kinda changed my life and entire outlook as a musician. The reality is SO many of my heros still have to work in between tours and that is totally OK and normal. Just start a band, write and perform. Thats all that matters

Absolutely love this man. Haven’t missed a show of his (in whatever town I’ve lived in) for nearly 20 years. Zero pretentiousness. Just 100% for the love. Hope he continues for years and years to come. X

So after revisiting this interview after seeing the melvins documentary - I don't get the animosity between buzz and joe.? I mean Buzz doesn't seem like the easiest guy to get along with.. but there is a bit of venom there..

Doors were definitely influential to metal, punk, psychedelia and even goth. People used to shit on them for a while but I think they finally give them their dues.

I think a suitable term for the genre is "Heavy-blues" it has that bluesy vibe with the sound of Hard Rock, heaviness of Metal and Punk attitude. Basically it's like Heavy Metal turned slow and the fast Punk turned heavy. Turn off the fuzz/distortion and it's Blues on acoustic. This is very good documentary about the genre!

I just keep watching this over, and over, and overrrrrr....Nice to know that my heros' heros are also my heros! One band that I think definitely needed mentioning (but was not) is Burning Witch...probably just an oversight lol. Oh hell, need to add Earthride, Clutch and a few others to that \m/ When Wino said "something that'll make you cry", for me it is Spirit Caravan's Lost Sun Dance....if there was ever a riff that could go on for 52 minutes, it's that one. As for Matt Pike, I hereby nominate him as the official spokesman of all things heavy....he's the Dee Snyder of our shit!

Came back after seeing this over 10 years ago. Man, what a good time. 2008, 2009+ felt like there was a huge resurgence of stoner rock, well into the 20‘teens. A lot of these bands shown here are still going strong. Congrats to High On Fire for their award winning career. Dead Meadow still going strong.

As someone living in a whirlpool of depression and other bullshit, anytime I see Matt Pike, that all disappears. It makes me so happy to live in the same time as him. God luck and good speed, my man. Keep on truckin’ Mr. Pike!

I first watched this as a huge Dead Meadow fan, and I still love the film as much as I love DM. Legends. But coming back 15 years later as the biggest High on Fire fan on Earth, it’s actually weird in hindsight. I had no idea HoF were even featured, and as much as I owe everything musically to a lot of the other bands here, HoF is just beyond man. Just went a step further idk. Oh and Hawkind is the best band to ever exist, no wonder this is my music family lol
