The distinction between the soul and psychic being needs to be clearly defined as SA's rendition is somehow blurred at times.

Good comment. I recommend the small volume titled "The Psychic Being'" which collects the essential passages. The blurriness arises, I think, because sometimes Aurobindo is commenting on the conventional notion of soul, whereas other times he uses it as a synonym for his own conception of the psychic being. I personally never use soul as a synonym because I agree it can be confusing. "Psychic being" conveys that it is a term of art unique to Aurobindo, and at that level I do think he is very clear in defining and situating it in his pneumocartography.

It has been said that there is a kind of peace that is not of this world. ²How is it recognized? ³How is it found? ⁴And being found, how can it be retained? ⁵Let us consider each of these questions separately, for each reflects a different step along the way. First, how can the peace of God be recognized? ²God’s peace is recognized at first by just one thing; in every way it is totally unlike all previous experiences. ³It calls to mind nothing that went before. ⁴It brings with it no past associations. ⁵It is a new thing entirely. ⁶There is a contrast, yes, between this thing and all the past. ⁷But strangely, it is not a contrast of true differences. ⁸The past just slips away, and in its place is everlasting quiet. ⁹Only that. ¹⁰The contrast first perceived has merely gone. ¹¹Quiet has reached to cover everything. How is this quiet found? ²No one can fail to find it who but seeks out its conditions. ³God’s peace can never come where anger is, for anger must deny that peace exists. ⁴Who sees anger as justified in any way or any circumstance proclaims that peace is meaningless, and must believe that it cannot exist. ⁵In this condition, peace cannot be found. ⁶Therefore, forgiveness is the necessary condition for finding the peace of God. ⁷More than this, given forgiveness there _must_ be peace. ⁸For what except attack will lead to war? ⁹And what but peace is opposite to war? ¹⁰Here the initial contrast stands out clear and apparent. ¹¹Yet when peace is found, the war is meaningless. ¹²And it is conflict now that is perceived as nonexistent and unreal. How is the peace of God retained, once it is found? ²Returning anger, in whatever form, will drop the heavy curtain once again, and the belief that peace cannot exist will certainly return. ³War is again accepted as the one reality. ⁴Now must you once again lay down your sword, although you do not recognize that you have picked it up again. ⁵But you will learn, as you remember even faintly now what happiness was yours without it, that you must have taken it again as your defense. ⁶Stop for a moment now and think of this: Is conflict what you want, or is God’s peace the better choice? ⁷Which gives you more? ⁸A tranquil mind is not a little gift. Please understand it is all MIND GAMES ? Please read full comment .. If they can they wont even let you breath on your terms, that much these Hindu Monks wants to control you your body and mind your intellectual your though process, you whole life on the name of mediation and spirituality to make you feel inferior, once the successful on make you feel accept inferior, You will surrender to them pledge your whole life for their Mission, Their Aashram, Thair Cult , Free of cost you will work for them ?! They say All Gurus they says Aahaar Nidra(Food & Sleep,Rest) which are even animal can do, if you human only engage in these two activities you are no better than animals, Then WE also said those Gurus that if you are working for others on the name of Religion on the Name of Meditation Dhyaan Samaadhi and Chakra Activation which is also unsure uncertain may be ? , when a Guru preach you and you spend all your life serving Gurus's Ashram Spending Lot of time Listening Gurus's Pravachans Lectures and further more if you Give up your own life your own Family join Gurus Aashram Wake up 4 or 5 am then work whole day for free eating what ever given to you is like you are now no better than animal ? Who work all their lives for master all the work animal does and their master gain the maximum out of animals hard work if you are working for any Guru , any Sampradaay, any Cult then you are also quite much like animal who have no life of their own , Aahaar Nidra engaging living life for only these two things are like animal life then working for other very much, have no life , no choice, no amenities of our own are also like animal life or not ?

This video & channel does not endorse following a specific guru or joining any ashram. I don't believe Aurobindo or the Mother ever campaigned for people to join them either. The dangers you warn against in your message are real, though, and anyone on the spiritual path must be discerning. May we all carry through on the truth.
