Texture release damaged my hair so bad. Wasn’t expecting this- worse than a relaxer and my hair is still curly!

I have fine thin hair and I don’t recall the hairdresser using a lot of passes- maybe 2. But I’m having breakage and shedding 😞 story of my life. Thought I’d finally found a treatment where I could enjoy my hair

Your hair is so similar to mine. My hair really doesn’t like to stay straight at all. The slightest humidity makes it puff up. It’s also fine and as well and knots constantly during the wash day process

I never heard of Texture release until I seen this video but I’ve been doing hair Botox which seems to be very similar & honestly I have ZERO regrets. I live in FL, I didn’t want to change my texture, just reduce frizz in humidity and it did that and so much more! Before this my styles lasted 2-3 days even with gel. I have 4a hair & now I can detangle my whole head in 15mins, I hardly shed(I used to shed ALOT), my fine hairs feel strong, my styles (and moisture retention) last 2-3 weeks, i only have to use 1/4 my usual amount of products & it enhanced all my curls. It can be done to stay straight if you do more passes with the flat iron but like you, I believe it’s simply just heat damage atp & I made them use a heat protectant even though it says not to use with other products 😂. Now I do it home by myself & plan to do it with every changing season.

That’s so good that you can do it at home yourself! One of my friends does her own texture release but I don’t think I’m hair savvy enough for that, I’m too scared I’ll end up bald 😂

When people say it’s basically a relaxer, it just SHOWS they don’t know anything about it lmaooooo the joke runs itself. I opted for a formaldehyde free salon keratin becaussseeeeeee I wanted temp wavy hair (since that’s how I wear my hair anyway).

Hi Next time try spraying less styling sprays you sprayed too much. And like others said first comb through then the GHD holding it either the comb

Even without texture release, my hair is heat trained and curls are loose as compared to when I started out. So much now with just blow drying, one might think my hair is relaxed. I am nervous to try the texture release now because I’m thinking I’ll be flat headed, that’s what brought me to your page.

Always use a comb with straightner..... That's the problem. With blow dryer mode, in this case you must use the comb because of your type of hair.

I think it depends on your hair type but my stylist recommends no more than twice a year x
