This is a wonderful story and I’m so happy for the both of you. I really loved you talking about vulnerability and honesty, because it’s just not heard enough. I feel like my generation (Gen Z) has basically been taught that every small flaw is an entire reflection of you as a person and that you need to be making checklist for a partner and as soon as you get to a box that you’re unsure about then you decide they’re not for you. It’s never that simple. No one is perfect, but people are perfect for each other. That still doesn’t mean there will never be disagreements or fights, but true relationships understand this and work through them and don’t let it make them forget everything that’s beautiful about the relationship! I was recently diagnosed at 62 with ADHD. I've done something like this recently in that I've gone back to past incidents where I felt I was wrong, did the wrong thing, said the wrong thing. I look at it through the lens of ADHD and those incidents make much more sense to me. I acted only in the way I could have without knowing the underling reason. It wasn't wrong; it wasn't well understood by me -- or others. I forgave myself for many of them, reached out to someone whom I hurt by those actions and apologized, and have a new perspective on the person I was then and am now.
