You are an intelligent young man that just had his eyes opened in ways most of the developed nations don't. I offer this advice from an almost 50-year-old American. Never go into any country assuming you are right because of where you were born. Always be humble and 99% of the time you will be treated well. Lastly, always remember you are a guest in another person's country. I don't discuss politics when I visit countries because it's not my country. I don't fuss about the things I don't like because while I understand I was privileged to be born where I was, I also find out how much I really don't know. I have been to 19 countries in my life between the military, the oilfield work, and doing missions. I can testify to the fact that Filipino/as are the nicest people in the world. I am moving there for good in January to help a friend who has a non-profit feeding program. Sadly, people from developed countries often have no idea of what true poverty is. Many prisoners in certain countries have more rights than citizens in other countries. I truly hope things work out between you and Mia. Pinays have a way of loving their men like no other woman in the world. Also great content and editing. I have a degree in digital cinematography and you knocked this one out of the park

I came here to the philippines to "meet my girl" on the day I was gonna go home I looked at her sleeping..... I canceled my ticket, called my family to sell my truck, all my stuff in my apartment, called my job and quit. I have been here a few years now and everyday is amazing... if you don't have anything really holding you back why not?? I was 30 when I did it now im 37 married 5 years now. I never regret it one bit.

Most Foreigners not just you, when looking outside of the Rich district of Manila like BGC, then going out of the area and see houses that are not looking perfect does not mean people are really poor, some of those living in those areas most of them are still able to provide and live happily maybe not to the western standard style of living but definitely much happier and even in the most dreadful scene you may think they cope with it. Filipinos will strive to do whatever it takes to earn a living unlike the western culture, they rather be positive and try harder, the reason some go out of the country and sacrifice being away from the family but be able to help financially back home.
