The title of this famous hymn is, Christ the Lord is Risen Today. It was written by the founder of the United Methodist Church, Charles Wesley. Jesus Christ is Risen Today is A different hymn to a different tune.

This is not the same tune etc. as” Hail Thee, Festival Day” . I sang in the choir for years, and I sang both. Welcome Happy Morning” was my Dad’s favorite, he was from Yorkshire England. 🙏🩷

I got to know this song while being on an intense "journey" with Dietrich Bonhoeffer and his famous hymn "By gentle (Gracious) Powers". I’m introducing different melodies to this poem on my channel in a special playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PL4G_TfKePYgI6qX5gRIAuH5mINzqMqqBM This poem fits exactly to this melody, and I think, Dietrich Bonhoeffer had this song and the other too (Be still my Soul) in mind, when he wrote down his poem. Christian unity was always his goal and following Jesus as well … IMPORTANT: there is a new complete English translation with all seven verses available on my channel. Be blessed day by day!

A person who can sing this hymn without being gobsmacked by the tune and especially the poem (lyrics), and whose tear ducts remain dry, is no one I'd care to have a drink with.

These hymns of the episcopal church of USA and anglican Church of England are so awesome in every sense, from spirituality to worship to each and every aspect of our life with God , BUT FOOLS, SEEM TO LIKE RUBBISH CHORUSES WHICH ARE honestly preposterous to say the least, MY beloved Mother who looked after me, who is actually a Saint, as anyone looking after someone WITHOUT GIVING THE CURSE OF LIFE, THE YOKE OF LIFE, THE BURDEN-SOME-NUISANCE -MILESTONE CALLED LIFE , is actually a SAINT....so MY Mother had a great time of Anglican Church of England hymns growing up, FREE OF CURSED CHORUSES. THANK YOU FOR THE HYMNS.. CHORUSES ARE A CURSE

God of our fathers, whose almighty hand Leads forth in beauty all the starry band Of shining worlds in splendor through the skies, Our grateful songs before Thy throne arise. Thy love divine hath led us in the past, In this free land by Thee our lot is cast; Be Thou our ruler, guardian, guide and stay, Thy Word our law, Thy paths our chosen way. From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence, Be Thy strong arm our ever sure defense; Thy true religion in our hearts increase, Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace. Refresh Thy people on their toilsome way, Lead us from night to never-ending day; Fill all our lives with love and grace divine, And glory, laud, and praise be ever Thine.

This hymn was originally Swedish. An American friend who lives in Sweden sent me a video of her church singing this: it was so s-l-o-o-o-w! At the faster tempo that we play it, it reminds you of a lilting folk dance. It makes you really want to go out there and "prepare the way."

What a grand place Saint Bart's must be ! I ahve enjoyed watching many videos made there. Congratulations on keeping high the musical style, too... all good, solid, time-proven hymns of the traditional Church, with no garish modern exeperimental flash-in-the-pan junk compositions.

The melody is from the Jewish hymn, Yidgal, which is based on the 13 Principles of Faith attributed to Maimonides. The melody was written by Meyer Lyon.
