what size is that , i love Sportspal canoes that looks to be 10 feet and must weigh 25 pounds dry at the most .
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal2 күн бұрын
@sailawaybob it was a novelty build only 6feet. Not suitable for using as a watercraft ( I tried) , plus no coast guard would give safety specs for one. Awesome cooler though

So what thrust is the equivalent of 2or 3 hp ? I cant use gas powr on many places here
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal3 күн бұрын
@billnordby3142 that is a tricky question as hp and lb of thrust don't easily convert ie Shaft size ,prop pitch, electric efficiency. However kilowatts will work an a 2hp is 1.47 kw and 3hp is 2.2kw. Would be a fairly solid bet 2hp and 40lb are very comparable, and 60lb is around 3hp, hope this helps you had me doing some research and head scratching. Cheers 🍻

I would like to re-paint mine, previously someone painted it camo, i believe it was originally birch bark, and thats what i want to go back to. Can you please tell me where to get the paint? I know theres a manufacturer place in Michigan, i dont know if its worth shipping to them to refurbish or me give it a go. I also need all the foam. I have a 14' sportspal pointed. I would also like new decals.
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspalАй бұрын
@tomwoods8678 the paint used is an enamel made by Sherwin Williams . In the U.S the top provider of parts is Kenco outfitters in New York. There is a dealer in Michigan called Jay's outdoors. If the don't have the parts needed, you can get in contact with Baywood Enterprises 705 476 4406. I'd try the U.S option first could cut shipping costs.

Dave - 3/16 rivet by what length ???
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspalАй бұрын
@rossklager hey Ross the rivet length is 3/4". Your question about the solo seat position, 12" towards the bow if the thwart or yoke is kept in the original location. 12" gives enough space for your head in between the yoke and seat. When solo paddling the canoe is paddled backwards. Hope this helps Cheers 🍻
@rossklagerАй бұрын
@@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal Thanks for the rivet size. I'm only putting one seat in the canoe, looking for suggestions on how much space to leave between front edge of seat and yoke so my weight is as close to centre as possible but I've got room to get my feet under the seat while kneeling.
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspalАй бұрын
@rossklager I did one as a solo and the position I gave is the best option I've found.

@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal2 ай бұрын
@fitnesssolutions7100 thanks for reaching out. To my knowledge they never had anything canvas on them. That being said I have seen some silly set ups come in for repair where people used makeshift materials. The best option for seats would be Kenco Outfitters in New York, they can get them shipped to you easily and Bill is a good guy to deal with.

We have the 14' wide transom. Generally use one of our electrics on it but sometimes use our 2.5 Merc. We love it! Best small water boat out there, and light. This spring i bought the 12' solo for paddling small ponds. Best fishing outfit I've had. I sold my heavy beast fishing kayak. So much more comfortable and versatile in the little sportspal !

I have a question - I ordered the bow (larger) seat for my seatless Radisson. I want to use my 12pt as a solo canoe. Is there any problem reversing the direction of the seat (instead of the canoe itself) so it's on the opposite side of the crossbar instead of paddling the canoe backwards? In theory it should fit the same right? It's symmetrical? I have to get a pop rivet hand tool I guess. Shouldn't be too much of a problem. Thoughts?
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal2 ай бұрын
@infie no problem at at the brackets need to be bent to match the hull shape anyway. You can swap the rivets out for bolts if that is something you would choose
@infie2 ай бұрын
What's the pill bottle looking thing with the white lid inserted into the seat bottom? I recently bought a used Radisson and it came with 3 foamers. Weird little seats - maybe mostly for rowing and kids I'm thinking. Anyway, what's with the bottle insert? Put your car keys in it or what? Haha. Cheers!
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal2 ай бұрын
@infie you're on the right track. Back in the day it was just for a little storage items ie. Matches, fishing line ect. Keys would be a good one too. Some reason they still make with it.
Is Adthane only in Canada? Seems like it. There are other marine sealants, but Adthane is the one? Just making sure. I'd rather not pay 20 bucks in shipping to get it shipped to the states. Thanks kindly.

We bought a used 12', double pointed not too long ago. It has the dark camo green color(i believe they call it drab green...lol). If you're alone, it is recommended to sit in the front seat and paddle it "backwards" for better stability.

Don't be fooled by the last part of this video. I bought the same Sportspal motor mount for my 14' pointed Sportspal canoe. I put a Suzuki DF2.5hp gas outboard on it. Only with 1/3 of throttle, the mount began to deform. Even in this video at 1:46, you can see the motor shaft is no longer vertical but lower side inclines towards the hull of the canoe. And according to the speed of the canoe, I bet the throttle is only a bit above the idle. In short: this kind of motor mounts are designed for 30-40lbs electric trolling motors, not for gas engines.

Good morning I recently purchased a 12 foot canoe looks similar to a sports pal but it’s a manaqua I marked the ribs and remove the liner to do a complete re-seal is there a starting point on installing the ribs from one end to the other or middle out and also what would the spacing be I marked all the ribs The marks don’t line up from side to side left to right could be up to 2 inches kick back on one side
@GettenanyOutdoorsSportspal2 ай бұрын
@ralphmoises3555 I would start at the thwart bars and space ribs 6" apart, split the difference at the center of the bar and work your way out to the ends. Good luck with the refurbishment

I have my grandfathers old square stern SportsPal in the backyard. It needs new wood on the transom and the floatation foam/fenders replaced, the interior foam is in pretty good shape since it's usually keel up on some sawhorses. The keel and gunnels are in good shape, and it does hold water (in if I leave it right side up). He got it in the late 1970's if I remember right, or possibly the early 80's.
