I always thought the Doors should have done what AC/DC did 10 years later and search for a new singer. From what I read, it was unthinkable at the time to try and replace Morrison. But I think they could have taken a pause and found another great singer/songwriter to work with and who knows, they might have gotten lucky.

Why did you count KINGS OF LEON out?? The 3 brothers and their cousin on bass have not changed? Maybe I misunderstood something, just asking. Cool video either way!!
@NewFalconerRecords4 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. As far as I can tell, Nathan and Caleb formed the band in 1999, but the other brother and cousin joined in 2002. However, Wikipedia has them all starting in 1999 but contradicts itself in the main text, saying that they basically recruited the other two once there was record company interest. It was a close call.

Fantastic. Crisp, funny. Lots of great info..(Had no clue about the post-Doors!). If I can throw an honorable mention to XTC. Though they were on the wane, the last two albums were the two songwriting-singing members and they are brilliant albums. Not touring for years didn't help. Terry Chambers is making amends for that now.

The Moody Blues should have been included. The lineup only had one change from 1967 until 2018 when Ray Thomas died.
@NewFalconerRecords22 күн бұрын
A great suggestion, but Ray Thomas retired in 2002 due to ill health. Also, keyboard player Mike Pinder quit in 1978 and his replacement Patrick Moraz stayed until 1991 and was replaced by a series of touring keyboard players. But yes, when you look at Justin Hayward, Graeme Edge and John Lodge, they stayed together from 1966-2018 - 52 years! I'm doing a follow-up video and will definitely give the Moodies a mention.
@BrundleFly86823 күн бұрын
1990 doesn't feel like it was that long ago! I'm feeling old now... Still, great post, well done! I do have to take issue with your statement about Pearl Jam being the "last Seattle 'Grunge' band standing" and point out that, although they've had membership changes and a period of hiatus, Alice in Chains are still well and truly alive and performing. In fact the current line-up has been together longer than the 'original' one... about 15/16 years so far. Actually, Mudhoney are still touring too... not sure about line-up changes but it might be worth looking into if you're doing a follow up piece! Cheers.
@NewFalconerRecords23 күн бұрын
Great point about Alice and Chains and Mudhoney. I looked Mudhoney up and yeah, bass players. Their current bassist has "only" been with them since 2001. The rest, yes, unchanged since 1988! All the best.

Nice video. I'll add a few groups: Queen with Innuendo, Penguin Cafe Orchestra with Union Cafe, T. Rex with Dandy In The Underworld, XTC (sort of) with Wasp Star, and Oingo Boingo with DATEOTT... No, I don't count the 1994 album. Naked was a strong album, and I consider it underrated. I think Talking Heads might have continued as a strong nineties band without Chris and Tina, had Kirsty MacColl joined David and Jerry in a new lineup, but we'll never know. However, Kirsty's involvement on Naked and Rei Momo is not something to overlook... She also went out on top with Tropical Brainstorm before her early passing.

You are being too kind with the the definition of line up the lasted 26+ years. for me it means that there were the same personal. Crazy Horse had a few people come and go over that time and did an album without Young and they went on hiatus a few times

I agree, but you may not have noticed that added a question mark, and that's why I didn't include them in the main list. But I'm just so impressed with that rhythm section still going since almost the mid-Sixties. I had to pay them some respect.
