Thanks for doing this. I know there are some people out there curious as to how they would turn out. Next one you need to experiment with are the red ones and then check that slurry, haha. I’ve been calling the red and tan varieties Coquina since that is shell fossils embedded in limestones. Take care.

A lot of relict structures in with the moss, and fragments of red basalt in it too. Evidence of the early history of the agate filling in the cavity. The dark/clear fortification agate came last, as did the plume like structure you uncovered farther in the agate nodule. This one makes a good case for some of Marco Campos Venuti’s theories of agate formation caused by biological effects.

That last one is a nice surprise. I would have cut two of them at 90 degrees from your decision, including the light fortification agate.

Try doing the first two steps in the rotary 80/220 for 3 days each . Then dry in the vibe(mini sonic works great) for the last two steps 500 AO and AO polish with fine corncob media. I use hornady brand, made for reloading ammunition. I’ve made a lot of limestone and calcite shiny with this method.

I know now what I'll buy. The Harbor Freight Central Machinery 18 lbs tumbler. $185 + warranty. When it breaks, just trade it for a new one and purchase the warranty again. For the cost of those brands and the problems you've had, their prices are ridiculous.

I"m planning to make guitar pickups out of jade so I'm looking for a tumbler. Would it be possible to put a cardboard box over it to reduce even more sound? Or would it get too hot?
@spwinaustin
@spwinaustin 23 сағат бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching! You could definitely encase the tumbler to muffle the sound. The heat will build up for sure so you would need to keep an eye on that because it could become an issue. I think if you used a large enough box it would probably be ok.
