Most of these rock-off battles are real nail biters! But occasionally you get one of these…….😔

Hey Scott, Ive enjoyed watching a bunch of your videos, and I was wondering if you have a business email, or a preferred method of contacting, and sending you some photos of some particularly interesting fossils, and potential fossils, but I am completely unsure of a bunch of them.. I can NOT find anything anywhere about these fossil rocks, and its been a nightmare trying to find anyone who is open to checking them out, or at least checking some of the photos out. I live in Tucson, AZ and that makes it even worse for me considering the worlds largest gem and mineral show is held here every year. I appreciate any assistance your willing to give, and Ill make it worth your while by sending you some of my finds out here in the desert south of tucson. Thanks Scott, and I look forward to be able to communicate with you if possible.

Hi Eric, thanks so much for watching! Honestly I am no expert when it comes to identifying fossils. If you watch my videos you’ll notice that I often use very loose language when describing the fossils I see in the rocks 😆. I’m pretty good with spotting and identifying petrified wood but as far as ancient sea creatures go I’m definitely a novice. I suggest contacting a local university and seeing if you can get help from their geology department, or perhaps a local rock shop. Those would be much better sources of information regarding your mystery fossils. I hope that helps!😁

@@spwinaustin I did contact the UofA geology department, but was called back in response only to be told that they no longer do fossil/rock identification. Whats worse is that Tucson has the worlds largest gem and mineral show every year, and yet im still having major issues getting in touch with most anyone that can assist me. I do appreciate the response back though. I was able to get a reply from another person finally that has helped me in directing where I should research, and work on finding out what I have. I will still be watching your videos as I am an avid rockhound/ geology hobbiest. Do you attend the Tucson Gem and Mineral show at all?

@@ericcleland817I have never been to the show but of course I’ve heard a lot about it and hopefully one day I’ll make it out there. Eventually I’ll be living in southwest Colorado so the drive won’t be as bad. Good luck identifying your fossils! I hope you are able to find a good resource.

@@spwinaustin Its something to behold because all the hotels along I10 around the downtown, and South Tucson region, as well as the Tucson Convention Center, and a bunch of other regions around Tucson are setup to where you could start walking and checking out all the different sellers, and you almost would have a difficult time being able to see most all of them. I do hope in the future that you get an opportunity to come to the gem and mineral show because it occurs at the end of January and into Febuary, which is the most optimal time of year to come out to Arizona as it pertains to the heat.
