Well, I would say this does everything Pro Q 3 does except the three phase modes so about 95% in my opinion. Where as, Pro Q 3 can only do about 20% of what’s capable with this EQ. So in my opinion, this EQ def Beats Pro Q 3.

@@pluginhoarder that would be good, like check out the ozone presets and how they keep them simple, then perhaps come up with a solution similar. They also need to get this on plug in boutique it’s dope. Lmk if you create some pre sets, mostly to tackle mud but also to beef up 808, bass, and lead vocalist. Peace bro

When people mention 'drums' in videos like this, the focus is often too limited to specific comparisons, which doesn’t fully represent what these plugins can actually do. For example, if you use reference tracks to gauge how your mix should sound, you’ll notice that using the 'C' option in the color section opens up the 1-3kHz range. This is great for both vocal buses and drums, and professional tracks tend to keep this range more open. Features like the 'lift' help make that group more solid, which is often referred to as making it 'stand up in the mix.' The parallel section adds depth, working similarly to wet/dry control. I could go on, but I don’t think it’s necessary. I love seeing fun videos like this in the community, but a lot of times, the deeper methods behind using these plugins don’t get the justice they deserve.

Also, I read the description of the plugin on cradles site and it mentioned this was specifically for drums, the quote is “Take your drums beyond the super analog Add power, punch and weight to your drums in seconds Saturation, compression, and harmonic tools to sculpt your drums Complex parallel routing simplified into one plug-in” this is a similar sales pitch to Knock which was where the idea came from.

Pro Q 3 is still amazing! IMO the sidechain is much easier to use and the different phase modes make it a better mastering EQ. You can use this one free in trial mode without any limitation other than presets 🙏

I should have made this more clear: Orion is not in its default setting, it’s in the setting I set up in the beginning of the video. Later on when I’m comparing the two plugins I forgot to leave them open on screen (I was just soloing the channels) so I put screenshots up as visual representations. I should have said that… Will do better in future comparisons, thanks for watching 🙏

@@wdkbeats yeah if your drums are already mixed good Orion is heavy. My drums are usually already saturated and properly eqd and compressed before I hit the drum bus

@@pluginhoarder I've been in the industry for long time and near on one is doing the math side of plugins like they are. Also airwindows tube2 and totape8 are some of the best for saturation, completely free. I have yet to find a paid plugin that can actually come close for mixing. Arturia coldfire is my go to for creative purposes though.

Airwindows is by far my favorite plugin company. Crazy he’s doing all that alone and for free….. I was thinking about doing some comparisons of totape8 vs the big guys
