I owned one of these an 03 SL, it is a beautiful car. I actually purchased it for my wife on her birthday. The engine in this vehicle has an amazing sound. I had to part ways with this car last year. The maintenance costs on this baby is expensive. With age comes health issues, both of us could not enjoy sitting so low in a vehicle. I hope she found someone that could appreciate her as much as we did.

What a shame for such a lovely car. Sorry for you James and your dream car, I think it does depend on the car. I've had two Mercs in a row that have been very reliable. A C class that did 175k miles and never went wrong apart from needing new engine and gearbox mounts and my current E class that has done 80k reliable miles. Maybe I've been lucky.

You have been lucky but honestly I find that once you cross into s class land or top tier products. Its where they are the most experimental. Pair this with the s coupe being a limited run and you get unforeseen issues.

I've got an 18 gt auto and I agree with you about the 10 speed. A tune fixed all that Learning the car solves that as well. They're a riot to drive!!

Good review. Thinking about a 22 model. Love the look and power. A lot of road noise and could use some features even older non-luxury vehicles have had for years. But, it is fun to drive, looks and sounds great

Yeah I don't really agree with this guy. Most people who buy this car already have other cars for city driving. Sure this is a great option as a daily driver, but these buyers have enough money to have options in the garage and don't want to put 15k+ miles per year on their Porsche. I have a plugin/hybrid for work, and I'm buying a 991.2 turbo s for nights and weekends. Lambos and Ferrari draw more attention than I care for and cost way more on maintenance.

I have one and I believe there are no drains on this roof. It does not even open. I think you had a front windshield leak. Sorry to hear man, I love mine.

Its tough I still cant find another good one with low miles under 70 k, I later found out that the pre facelift cars had a design flaw with the front cowl drain. You need to clean it once a year its prone to build up.

I have same car but, unlike you, I enjoy quietude over muffler delete. Plus I don't want to use foam ear plugs on long road trips, like I use in my Civic Type R.

I have had a E55, E63, (2) S550 sedans. I currently have a 2016 S550 Coupe, stock Matt white with designó cinnamin color interior and carbón fiber accents with custom Matt white and gloss blk 20" lambo looking wheels. I Purchased with 4000 miles and now 42000. I only jacked up the ECU and K&N air filters. Its a smooth riding rocket and always gets compliments. Best Benz for the money for sure. He explained this car very well and sccurately.
