Cher wore a lot of beautiful falls around 1968 ❤❤ but then again she could pull any hairstyle off of the 70s

I have my aunt Edna’s collage yearbook from 1920 and the Moana bob and Lee bob were all over that it’s funny to because some of the other hairstyle I see in that 104 yo book mad a comeback in the 60s

Isn't the horseshoe another name for a midi haircut of the 40's? If it's a horseshoe bob, I would assume it's a short midi or baby similar to the ones in theo 50's but possibly with less layering. Perhaps this is the origin of that haircut, styles are cyclical.

Love the tutorial. Thank you for sharing it. My question is: what should naturally curly haired women do to get a wet set? I usually have to blow dry my hair, the use the curling iron and pin it up while it is still hot. I have medium thick hair. Would I still be able to do a wet set?
@LaurenRennells10 күн бұрын
Yes, definitely, but what is your natural curl level? I often suggest a rigid roller like magnetic rollers for wet sets with natural curl.

I am SO glad I found this video. I've been watching a bunch of I Dream of Jeannie and love how they did Barbara Edens hair in the show. But I couldn't find much information on how they styled it. Definitely hope you do more on different styling techniques for this era!!

I used this trick then my hair was growing from a pixie I’d make the baby pony tail on the top of my skull and then I’d attached the hair piece and tie a scarf around leaving some hair popping from the top

My grandma told me that’s what the rolls were called - “victory rolls”… I asked her when I was twelve if she knew how to do the hair style that looked like cream horns, LOL 😂 She used to put her hair in pin curls using what we called “snaps” at least twice a week… I loved watching her, and I have her snaps somewhere.

I've been doing that wrapping technique for years by sheer dumb luck and just figured out how to get it to wave, only to stumble upon your tutorial. Using the comb and then doing the waves over it is brilliant and so is the diffuser when forcing a wave. Absolutely brilliant!

When I first went pink, I worked at a grocery store, then at a bank... And so many older women would compliment my hair, tell me they wish they were brave enough to try something like that (in the most genuine way). I always encouraged them to try it!

Typically, how long does it take to complete this hairstyle from scratch? Also, can you please share what temperature you used for the dummy and for how long is each strand held in the curling iron? I’m currently practice these techniques by your methods(which I love) and finding it difficult to achieve the desired results for a long haired dummy

I love your youtube video's, but I do have a question I am older and trying to go for a 1950's hair style and had straight hair and not sure what kind of cut to get. What would you suggest? I like your hair cut, but do you have straight hair (when you don't roll it or do pin curls? Thank you for any help

I dressed vintage for a while a few years ago. I started working a physical job and can't/don't wear a vintage hairdo. I didn't dress vintage for a very long time because of this. I'm still working a manual job, but I've been sewing my own vintage outfits for a while now. When I was on my hiatus, I wanted to try a hairstyle that was very popular when I was in highschool, 2012-2015. I decided to shave the side of my head. I was going for like a skrillix look, or Avril lavine or something. I've had it for about a year but I don't much care for it, so I'm trying to grow it out. I have an area about 2-3" radius around my left ear that was shaved. It's still very short, and I've been doing a middle part to help cover it as it grows back in. Do you have any tips for vintage styling while this grows back in? Or just curl, fluff, center part and use a snood? The rest of my hair goes past my shoulders about 2 or 3 inches.

I think the colored hair looks so much prettier because they still style and present themselves in a very neat way. Nowadays, most people will pair their colored hair with face piercings and tattoos. I mean, if you think that is pretty then fine but personally I think that is a bit off-putting.

I’m completely fascinated, thank you for sharing your research. How did they not destroy their hair back then with the bleach? I remember getting my first bleach job in the early 90’s as a teen, in an expensive salon and boy did they ruin my level 5 hair… it was a horrid light orange/yellow brassy, and they didn’t use a toner to my knowledge. I had saved up my money for so long lol. A couple of months later I went back to brown, my tail between my legs 😂
@LaurenRennells4 ай бұрын
Good question! They actually kinda did ruin their hair if they bleached it too far past their natural hair level. This look was a lot easier for women who were already natural blonde.
@ALT-vz3jn3 ай бұрын
@@LaurenRennellsahhhh now that makes sense! I always wondered how Marilyn didn’t ruin her hair, being a natural brunette. Although I think her hair had a golden undertone? She didn’t have all that red to get rid of.

So that's why lots of elderly ladies love those colours? I grew up just assuming that they just worked really well on grey and white hair (and tbh? They DO look great.) It's cool to learn that there is history to it.
