If you've never been in a crowd singing the anthem, that's something you need to put on your bucket list. Me, I went to a symphony about a month back--nowhere near this size, maybe 150 people if that, but still more than a handful--and since it was the first performance of the season, the orchestra played the anthem. They don't have a vocalist but a couple lines in you heard someone in the crowd starting to sing, then someone else joins in. And then another. Before too long the whole theater is singing and I'm breaking out in goosebumps

Was looking for a version of the Star Spangled Banner to bring some tears from these dry eyes. This is the one. The essence of the American spirit is to stand together as a light in the darkness. This is true patriotism. So many have forgotten that the United States was built with the blood and sweat of the common working man and woman. People from all over the world came to the U.S. seeking safety and a better life. They built roads, railways, and cities; they made our country great. We've always been dependent on the people that do the hard work, the dirty work, and look how we've repaid them. Immigrants are treated like garbage, like second-class humans. Many are forced to work for a pittance, and yet they are blamed for taking jobs from 'Americans'. These people deserve our respect, at the very least, and they are denied even that. They only wanted a home, and they built one of the most beautiful and wonderful nations in the world. So many of us are profoundly ungrateful; it is a disgrace. It seems we've forgotten what it means to be American. I am ashamed and sorrowed. Peace and love

So often, singers see performing the National Anthem as a career opportunity. Here we see a presentation of it humbly being passed to the people's capable voices.

imagine at an international event, the other team has a nice professional team sing their anthem. then instead of a professional team the entire american fanbase sings it. that would be TERRIFYING!

Why does it take something like 9/11 or the Boston bombing to bring this JOY & PRIDE & LOVE out of our fellow Americans??? No doubt this crowd was filled w/Libs, Conservatives, Repubs & Dems. People w/different ideas on this or that, but who love their country. Why are we so easily distracted & divided???

The piece of music never gets old. If you ever listen to the words it’s so incredibly beautiful, but I’m afraid if somebody other than Joe Biden takes it, we may not listen. We may not hear that song again. I said as that may sound I would miss that song that other person took over. We would never hear that song again, and it wouldn’t mean the same ever again
