I have come across a problem when following the steps for the initial install/set up show on various websites. I hope someone can help. I really appreciate it. After updating playonline, then starting it to up to enter my account info (so i can further proceed to the ffxi update)... I am not able to use any controls on the steam deck except for select and back/exit. I'm not able to enter my playonline account information, because I can't bring up the keyboard for both steam deck or playonline. I don't have an external keyboard. I have set the config controls for controller as instructed in the directions. Is there a button set up for the controller config that allows you to use the steam deck as the controller? Even if we're to somehow bypass by buying an external keyboard, I want to play this handheld with steam decks controller. Thanks for any help!

Running at 6-10watts of power is kinda nuts if you really think about it 22 years ago you would need a dedicated console (ps2) + TV or PC.. now it's in the palm of your hands

If this is for Windows, you'll want to use GloSCI off Github for Steam Deck. If you do a quick youtube search I believe there's a few tutorials there. On SteamOS, I am unfamiliar but I believe it should natively work if you've set it up in FFXI Config.

this video was done on Windows 11 on the Deck. If you're wanting to run it on SteamOS you'll want to follow a guide for Proton + Windower , I believe there is a good walkthrough for this on the windower forums if you go that route.

Hey Ice, how long does the battery last by just playing ffxi?
@ice5007-VODS2 жыл бұрын
It lasts around 2-3 hours when not plugged in, around 4 if you lower the brightness setting. It's mostly because I run Windows to run this, I suspect if you have it setup on SteamOS it would net you around 4-5 hrs or so.

It’s not too difficult if you can go through some common line guides for it. It’s a lot better than when the deck first launched.

It runs on SteamOS with some ProtonDB work, but I much prefer Windows 10 on it for Destiny 2 as well.

This looks fantastic, and the idea excites me, but I do have to consider one big thing: my linkshells get really chatty sometimes. How do you handle the communication aspect?
@ice5007-VODS2 жыл бұрын
I use a wireless Microsoft Design Keyboard (65% board) for bluetooth if I want to chat. The windower team has a linux fix for the keyboard overlay but I prefer Windows.

I just got the OneXPlayer Mini with the 5800U, unfortunately getting Windower to work has been a bust. Would love to get the game running at 60 fps instead of 30. So far game runs butter smooth on Win 11, tempted to try Linux on it.

Is this on Steam OS, or did you install windows in order to run FFXI? I’ve read you can’t easily dual boot windows on Steam deck. If you’re on windows did you wipe out Steam OS to get windows on it? If you’re on Steam OS are you running vanilla or did you get Windower to work.
@ice5007-VODS2 жыл бұрын
this is on Windows 10 Pro, I had some other games (Destiny) that I wanted to play on the Deck that weren't SteamOS compatible so I went this route. If you are using Windower/Ashita, if it runs on windows it runs on Deck.
@santiagoglezsrez2 жыл бұрын
Ashita runs on Proton but you have to set it up. Windower doesn’t, at least Windower 4. When the Steam Deck was announced I started migrating from Gearswap to Ashitacast for this very reason. Most of what you can do with Windower you can also do with Ashita and on SteamOS
