MP...My father maintained and flew on this vehicle many times while with the South Lake Michigan Wing of the Conferate Air Force in the 80-90's. Brings back great memories! Thanks!

Does the D.V111 originally use the 160hp Gnome rotary engine from manufacture? It is noticeable this aircraft shown here has a fixed engine casing ie: the prop and the engine are not both spinning together as the one unit. I am really interested to know please what engine type this is, and whether the electric start is from the time of the manufacture of the aircraft, or whether it is a later addition?

either a Rotec radial or verner i'm guessing

An electric starter on a Fokker D.VIII? Really? The tail wheel was bad enough, but the electric starter absolutely ruins it for me.

Is this plane, authentic?? It's not a kit, is it?? I'm asking 'cause it seems the wing struts, are missing. I like the contrast @2:45, while viewing a WWl's technology, the modern technology can be heard, in the background 😁!!

The Fokker D.VIII was one of the best planes ever. Very much advanced, especially the wing design.

Yep, some sloppy procedures and that loose rag flying off the fuselage was another 'hmmm'. You can get away with that for quiet some time...until you don't.

I'll bet it costs a pretty penny to keep this gorgeous bird in the air. The extended wings (past the joint), the rudder and elevators were made of painted fabric to save weight. It also made it easier to repair.

That plane sounds nice, like a Super Giant muscle car.
