I can’t figure out how to reply on your comment because every one else has one but me ? Yeah go figure. No most all my brushes are cheap.I love them.I don’t see spending that kind of $$. But it or not I was in Micheals and I did a Google search on fan brush number three and all they have a number fours and sixes as if this isn’t right that’s not what he used so I googled them and they sell them $50 or more a little less . I won’t do it. I did try your technique in my picture ended up sucking I was so upset. The paint was almost dry. I was panicking. Only because I was working on this piece for weeks for a housewarming gift for my son who likes to hike and this wasn’t happening and I didn’t wanna throw it in the trash so I tried water to get it off and that wasn’t happening with alcohol and sprayed all over the canvas only on the top part, I must use almost a whole roll of paper towels and the whole part was all green just like shaking. I am only happen because my husband said it look like crap but he’s wrong. He doesn’t know everything he’s not an artist on his own mind that’s because he’s a mechanical engineer he’s an artist in his in realm. Anyway, I think it worked out for the better. I would like you to see it so how do I send it? It did screw up a couple things but it took me a day to try and fix it. I didn’t think I could very upset, but it is what it is and this is a 30 x 24 and he likes to hike in Portland to which he moved to which I’m sad but I hope it does him justice. I really would like your opinion if you don’t mind, I think you’re a cool teacher.

I want to know why my fan brush separates. Is it because there cheap?thanks
@Kennysgreasypaint12 күн бұрын
@@lynnesachs2330 Hey thank you so much for your question! Firstly, do you know what type of hairs your fan brush are made of? This technique requires brushes made of natural hair bristles. Granted I’m using the BR brand in this video, I’d highly recommend a No.6 fan brush from Simply Simmons and they even sell them at Michael’s arts store. Most likely your brush isn’t cheap, just simply the wrong one created for a different medium and not oil paints.
@lynnesachs233011 күн бұрын
Hi no it wasn’t oils it was acrylic.
@Kennysgreasypaint10 күн бұрын
@ Hey, so I’ve read all your comments. Firstly DO NOT spend $50 on a fan brush lol. The fan brush you need should not cost that much. It’s nowhere near that amount when I buy them at Michael’s. But I paint in Oils in all my videos here. And you can send me an email to [email protected] and please put in the subject line “Painting” so I know it’s from you. I just ask that you be patient with my reply as your email might go to a spam and junk folder and I might not check those right away. Looking forward to seeing the work. Thank you.

Hi again I ordered hog fan brushes there isn’t a number 3 unless you want to pay for one that pretty expensive. I won’t do it. This set has numbers 2, 6,10,14,12,8,and 4 I probably won’t use them probably because not sure. But the 4 yes and maybe some others. My artist friend likes the hog brushes I am clueless to them. I have only used I guess synthetic ones. Which separated like I told you, but I didn’t see your separate in the video at all ? Trying to understand.🌻
@Kennysgreasypaint7 күн бұрын
@ Yes, hog hair brushes are considered natural hairs. But like I said, no one should be paying a fortune for these materials. And my brush doesn’t separate in the video because they are natural haired which I will always recommend.

@@margehaiduc9096 Hey, Marge. While production has officially started on season 3, I am experiencing a delay due to starting another KZbin channel. One that will showcase more of my talent as an actor, writer, and director. I thought it wouldn’t be as time consuming as I’m learning it is to be and it is unfortunately much more difficult to run two channels than I thought it was going to be. BUT I am not a quitter. I’m a creator who is going to keep on creating no matter how long it takes me. Trust me, no one wants new content on this channel more than I do. Great question. I got you but just to be clear, when you say "mess up", do you mean specifically putting on too much than you need?
@ACEMAN344482 ай бұрын
@@Kennysgreasypaint either put too much on or just starting over with a painting I’m not satisfied with.
@Kennysgreasypaint2 ай бұрын
@ So when it comes to the thin white medium base coat, you can do two things. Take a clean dry brush and firmly brush over the canvas to pick up that excess paint. Clean your brush and repeat this process. OR you can take your palette knife and scrape off the extra amount. As for not being satisfied with a painting, again, you can take the palette knife and simply scrape everything off before you start over. It’s that simple.

Thanks, Kenny. I appreciate your style of instruction. Wondering if you have any suggestions re: bushes. I pull the 1 inch brush north and south then flip it over. My bushes still look a bit muddy. Just wondering fundamentally, if there is something else I should be doing. Thanks again for the video. You are a fine fine arts teacher.
@Kennysgreasypaint3 ай бұрын
@@Gclef-py6ti Hey, friend! First off let me just thank you for your support and questions. I would have to say you can’t go wrong with natural bristle brushes. Unfortunately often times, you don’t find these brushes in actual art stores, you have to go online for them. Or at least that’s my case and my experience based on where I live. Just stay away from the Bob Ross brushes. They don’t make them the same as they used to and sadly the quality has gone down pretty bad. As for your bushes, I’m only assuming they look muddy after you place the highlights onto them? To avoid this, make sure that before you add your highlights, you have to thin out your highlight color a little bit. This can be done with your thin white mead oil that you coat your canvas with, or a little bit of linseed oil or any transparent oil medium. Now when placing the highlights onto the bushes with your brush, it’s a very gentle stamp. A very soft touch. Place each highlight one by one and take your time to ensure you don’t overdo it. Remember, less is more and don’t cover up all the dark area completely. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions and how this works out for you. Again I appreciate your support 👍
