I have been an Anne Frank fan since I watched Ellie Kendrick from Game Of Thrones playing her years ago (If you haven't seen it then you really should because Ellie was brilliant!) and then I read the diary. I felt sorry for Margot when I watched the Ellie drama series and read the diary. Margot and I were both born on 16th February which I think is brilliant and I'm proud of that and we both had a Granny born on Christmas Day. Also we both knew people married on 16th July- in her case it's Miep and Jan Gies and in mine it's my parents. We all went to school but we didn't have classmates and teachers disappearing literally overnight like Margot and Anne did which must have been really distressing. Millions of people were lost in the Holocaust but that's not counting all the babies that were never born. I am sure if things turned out differently Margot would have had children and grandchildren. One of Margot's friends was Barbara Ledermann whose sister Sanne was famously friends with Anne and Barbara survived by hiding (It helped that she had blonde hair and blue eyes) but Barbara lost her Mother, Father, Grandmother, Aunties and Sanne. Years later she had 3 sons and a daughter who she named Sanne after her sister which I think is lovely. One of the other girls in the photo is Margot's best friend Jetteke whose brother Leo was in the Dutch resistance and was executed by the Nazis. Interestingly both Barbara and Jetteke said to Otto Frank that he needed to remember Margot aswell as Anne. At the moment I'm watching "A Small Light" about Miep and Jan Gies which has been bloody brilliant and all the cast are awesome and well cast too, the girl who plays Margot is Jewish actress Ashley Brooke and I'm not exaggerating when I say that Ashley could be Margot's twin sister because the resemblance is uncanny!

I started listening and the tone of her voice sounded very different from films like my fair lady...until she said: but! 0:41 and the smile! She was the young energetic woman in those movies

Yes. Here she is much older and smoking cigarettes also affected her voice and unfortunately also her health.

My Parents were born in 1927 in Amsterdam I supposed they had many memories of the war but they didn't speak much about it.The Honger Winter was mentioned though.😢

The automatic subtitles mistakenly wrote Margot name as Margaret, Barbara in the video says Margot. I fixed it in the subtitles Thank you 🙂

Anne's story has haunted me all of my life... from the first time I sat in class reading about her story, to this day. She opened the eyes of the world with a pen, that now famous little book and her short but MEANINGFUL life❤
