Great video! The importance of chipping closer to the hole, or even to punch out to the right spot, is so true. You did the work at 14 to give yourself a lifetime of good golf. I miss the 300 yard drives from my youth, and wonder if I can get there again (says the bogey golfer)?

Great video my friend! We are ALOT alike. 😀 Like you, height wise, I am normally the shortest in my group at 5' 3". Like you, I am the sexiest in my group. 🤣😉 I know you didn't mention that but felt an obligation to put that out there. Our mindsets, approaches to certain holes, practice efforts and the emotional aspects you spoke of are eerily similar. I need to allow myself to get a little more emotional or excited on the course when I get a birdie or hit a great shot. I am golfing this morning and I will do just that. My goal today won't be a score. It will be to truly and genuinely enjoy my good shots and express the emotion that should accompany an excellent shot or hole. I will report back later today. 😁

Two things, although you expressed them differently: 1. play certain par 4s like a par 5 ; bogey is a good score, and 2. hit the approach shot straight. I do not have your reliable swing (very few of us do), so I learned to hit low, straight punch shots with a lower lofted club. If I am 80-90 yards out, instead of hitting the wedge I will punch a 9 or 8 iron and roll it onto the green. These shots are so much more reliable for me.

I wish I had picked up golf as a teenager or even earlier. Could’ve played with my dad if I had. But I was playing football and baseball. Didn’t pick up golf until my mid 20’s. Lost some time due to a back injury-like 7 years. I wish I was as consistent as you. I have about a 60% chance of hitting it where I’m aiming. I don’t like those odds. I think I need to break down and go talk to a coach. Just to make sure my mechanics are repeatable. If I could make the same swing every time, that would be fantastic

At 14 I was just playing soccer and running, I didn’t pick up golf until I was 28, I was that guy hit it far and hard, now at 62 I wish I could of told that man back it off. I am now playing some of my best golf I have ever played because I don’t swing hard and I think more about were to hit the ball, on my good days high 70s on my bad day low 80s more consistency. As for hole in one my first one I ran down the hole then nearly pass out from exhaustion 😂 my second one I just jumped up and down, my third was ho hum another one. Great video. Just wondering if you made sure to tell the SC300 the lofts of all your clubs. I made the mistake of just hitting the remote button for the club but the default lofts were all lower than my clubs’ lofts, so my data was worthless.

I’m 34 and I recently switched to Maltby TS4 irons and I’ve been thinning everything to about your distances. Watched my dad and his 2 friends hit my 7 iron to within 20 feet on a 155 par 3 when we were playing today so I know it’s not the club’s fault. Shot 88 with a birdie though so I’m happy. Like everyone else is saying though it’s nice to see realistic numbers vs these 190 yd 7 irons.

I’m struggling off the T currently, hip flexers are not helping my swing any, but smaller shots, pitching and chips putts are saving me at times. I probably just need to swing easier, distance is not a issue. I also need to control my emotions, I do get mad at myself. Which compounds my bad shots off the T. Great advice.

Great video... You were a very smart young man back then to evaluate ur game so well at that age and be disciplined enough to execute. For me to get the most out of my game golf is like playing chess. One move setting up the next. Knowing ones game and understanding how to manage ur way around a golf course. Even when i was playing my best i rarely shot right at a pin knowing my misses on tucked pins. Always trying to play the high percentage shot for success. For me anyways...

So many of us seem to be afraid of being honest about our real yardages. But I’ve found that knowing my yardages & being honest with myself about my yardages eliminates rinsing a lot of shots due to ego. I think you have mentioned before why you have the 4h, Hy-wood, & 5w that are close in yardage. But if you can comment on that again, it would be appreciated.
@mistahshorthitter
@mistahshorthitter Күн бұрын
I'm going to give an update after I do the yardages a few more times. I want to be confident that they are correct. In general, when I play longer courses, I feel like having smaller gaps with the long clubs are better than the short clubs since I hit those more often.
@MJMoore-0313
@MJMoore-0313 21 сағат бұрын
Oh ok. I play the CG 17* hywood, 20* hywood, 24* 5h, & 27* 6h. The gap between my 17* & 20* is not that wide but if I do flush the 17* it will go up to 20yds longer than the 20* flushed. Thus, the reason I keep both in the bag for those long wide open shots I may have sometimes, allowing me to trust hitting the 17*.
