Plant based baskets, wooden trays, wooden crates, galvinized metal tubs, and plastic planters could also be used for farm themes with ribbons of burlap or plaid. I would be reluctant to use glass and terracotta due to breakage. As for lighting, perhaps faux wood table lamps with shades of burlap, animal print or floral print may br relevant along with soft white bulbs. Furthermore, rustic floor mats and rugs may be used on hard floors. If possible, rustic wooden chairs, preferably pine, can be substituted for plastic ones. For the board borders, I would recommend using light wood textures, buffalo plaid or lattice pattern ones, preferably with farm and animal stickers. Wooden signs with twine would also be relevant for farm themes and perhaps more so with incomplete paint coverage to simulate paint deterioration due to weathering. Plaid would be relevant for curtains, which could change according to the seasons. For instance, burnt orange, mustard yellow, hunter green, fallen leaves, scarecrows and harvest themes would be relevant for fall while dark green, pastel pink, pastel blue, pastel yellow, flowers and baby animal themes would be relevant for spring. Perhaps a garden wagon would be useful and theme relevant for classroom clean up, which Japanese schools encourage in students. With so may dark surfaces, sensitive eyes may be less affected by the lighting than a room with mostly white surfaces. Personally, I prefer using soft white instead of cool white although the latter would be very relevant for laboratory and space themed settings. I would also use more rustic grey, plaid and light wood textures instead of black for the decor. You may want to use some Suzy's Zoo items for farm decor.

Great video! Question…on the slide of 4 corners you have “orange” as a noun (naranja) not as an adjective in Spanish…did you want it that way? I’m Hispanic and we say “anaranjado” to describe something that’s orange in color. The other words are correct. Just an observation 😊

Congrats on year 7! I started following you years ago as I began my educational journey 7 years ago to become a teacher. Though I’m pursuing a degree in Secondary education and ended up taking a few years off due to the craziness in the world, I love watching your videos and the joy you bring to education.

Perfect example of a fantastic teacher role model to have a role in raising our next generation. I would love for my kids to have you as a teacher. I hope you continue to be the sun in children’s lives, and that you have children of your own that want to follow in your footsteps to continue this awesome wave of caring teachers! Have a great school year!

Kim! So happy you had a good first couple days!! I LOVE classroom jobs too! Classroom jobs = independence = teacher isn't responsible/doing everything! I limited it this year to line leader, door holder, caboose and 3 teacher helpers that do anything I need help with and its been great so far! Also love those proud of you notes! Going to make my own now...hope you have a great week! :)

I am jealous of how big your classroom is. Also what is your budget? I only get $200 for start up and that has to buy all the workbooks, pencils, etc. Also do you have that shelving provided or did you have to purchase it all. I've been told for this year they don't even have enough desks for my class so I have to use massive tables for the kids. I'm just super jealous.

So I love this youtube channel. But the comment "Dont talk while I am talking" I get it is her video, but it was her friends classroom. Her friend was very excited to show her all things that she did and without permission for the video. If someone came to my classroom with a camera, and I was excited to show them everything, I think the person with the camera would let me talk about my room instead them trying to talk about room. But to each their own. I want to hear ideas from the bestie about her room instead of someone bringing in their camera and them telling her to "stop talking" so the person with the camera can show off someone elses work. I used to work with preschoolers and when the preschoolers were showing me their work, I just listened I did not control the narrative, but I listened to them telling me about their work. I did however show respect to the preschooler showing off their work by letting them tell them about it.

I so relate to speaking being stronger than listening 😆. Sometimes it can be tough to get listening practice because people will switch to English (with kind intentions) and I’m like wait noooo let’s keep speaking Korean please 😭

Hey! First of all, long time fan and love your set up blogs each year ❤️ Second of all, it looked like the markers you had in your community supply bins might be the Mondo Llama brand from Target. If they are, I just wanted to let you know that I bought some packs for my classroom and they are SUUUPER stainy this year! I’m talking skin, clothes, desks, etc. I don’t know if they changed the formulation or what, but I can definitely tell you that they do not wash off! I teach preschool so it might not be as big of a problem for your age group, but I just wanted to put that out there for you, or any other teachers that happen to read this. Happy school year! 😊

bathrooms in the classroom an essential. the elementary/middle school in our town was rebuilt 2 years ago in the old school primary grades all had a bathroom that was between the 2 classrooms for each grade (school so small that they only have 2 classes per grade). the new school not even prek has an in classroom bathroom though the prek's is just across the hall its still a bit crazy.
