@@vjysharnan You do not need all the three. It depends on the product/ service you are looking for. RFI is needed only if the buyer is not clear about the product being procured. If the buyer needs information before deciding on the product, Information may be Requested (RFI). Take, for example, you want to buy a TV for your home. What will you do? You may visit a showroom, ask the salesperson to show around the models before shortlisting the model you want to buy. This is RFI. This is optional. If you are familiar with the product, RFI is not needed. RFI is generally followed by either RFP/ RFQ. RFQ (Request for Quotation) is generally for off the shelf products. For example, if I want to buy a laptop, I do not need a proposal, a simple quotation is sufficient. RFQ is mainly used when the cost is the primary factor for the decision. RFP (Request for Proposal) is generally needed when you need technical proposal in addition to the pricing. For example, if I need to construct a Metro Rail station, I cannot just ask for the pricing. I may need a proposal, so that I can be confident that the seller is capable of doing the work.
