305 70 16 or 305 65 17 are good choices requiring minimal trimming. The 295 70 17 is a bit bigger in diameter and is nice but it's a fair amount of extra work to get them to not scrub.

Any information out there on painting OVER Bullyliner. That is, a tutorial on what paint, prep used for painting OVER the liner once you are finished with the Bullyliner job. Say...when you want some other color. Thanks, I want the protection and effect but in white (OR) an Acrylic metalic color. Wondering how that texture will look when combined with a metallic finished coat. Thanks! I called the company and they said they did not produce white as yet.

Hi Rhett, Thank you for the video, it's very informative! When talking to the 285 tyre you mention rounded vs square edge tyres and that a square edge tyre might need +18 instead of +20 offset. Do you have examples of tyres that you consider have a round vs a square edge? I'm considering a 17x8.5 +20 wheel with a 285/70 tyre and trying to pick a compatible tyre model. Thanks
@rhetth-s8082
@rhetth-s8082 4 ай бұрын
The important thing is the width of the tread area. You can readily measure this if you have access to the tyres, or some manufacturer spec sheets used to have that information. I can tell you from my observation for example that a falken wildpeak has a narrower tread width than a mickey thompson P3. I have some opinions on some other tyres but not that many. If you intend to go offroad i suggest an 8" wide rim with a 285 to 305 wide tyre in order to reduce the risk of rim damage.

What lug bolt size do I need to run with a 16x8 +30 offset rim on a 2017 4cyl 420 core amarok?
@rhetth-s8082
@rhetth-s8082 8 ай бұрын
The original wheel bolts probably have a ball seat, and most aftermarket rims have a tapered seat, requiring different wheel bolts, but you can typically run the same length as standard, unless there is something unusual about the replacement rim. You can measure how far the current bolt protrudes from the current rim, then put the bolt in the replacement rim and compare. Shorter and longer wheel bolts are available but unlikely to be needed.

The reason the saw has a cut out is to protect the motor. If the saw is overloaded (say pushing too hard) and the motor slows down too much, current through the motor can rise to a very high level which can damage the motor. The saw has a circuit which monitors motor current and cuts power to the motor when it gets too high. If you want to go hard, you should look at a more powerful saw or a petrol version.

Wouldn't the OEM upper control arms be playing a part too? Obviously a diff drop kit is needed too... Edit: How where the wheel alignment readings after installing the kit and is there much/any scope for adjustment in the OEM components or are eccentric bushes and whatnot starting to become a necessary consideration? 🤔 I wonder if there's a product or feasible method for fitting portal hubs... Shame the Yanks haven't developed a long arm IFS kit for em....
@rhetth-s8082
@rhetth-s8082 Жыл бұрын
In the absence of a diff drop, a lift of 40mm is the max the CV's can handle, and the std upper control arms are fine with that. A diff drop could allow more lift, but the more angle the lower control arms are on at ride height the more erratic the handling, due to track change during suspension movement.
