This is excellent stuff. Thanks for the in-depth walkthrough. You got yourself a new subscriber here!

Thanks Rhett. Will likely copy part of your layout 😊 BTW, the bash plate I got from you has been doing very well and it has bashed a fair amount of rocks.

Yeah nice job. Going to do mine soon. It's the 2016 nx. Hopefully similar. Interested how you did the sub frame drop. I just have a 2" lift and got 32's under it no problems. I don't know if I'd want to go bigger tyres, saps alot more fuel and power
@rhetth-s80822 жыл бұрын
Once all the dash readouts are corrected its usually the case that bigger tyres do not increase fuel consumption. Larger diameter actually has a lower rolling resistance. They reduce revs at highway speeds which can reduce fuel consumption, but if they mean the automatic's torque converter doesnt lock up then they can increase consumption. Thats mainly why i changed my diff ratios. Larger diameter tyres reduce initial acceleration in first gear, but after that the auto or your gear selection will keep the engine in the same operating rev range making no difference to power availability.

Had any issues with diff since then? trying to decide whether to do it 8mm hose instead for more air flow... but more tricky to do. So i want to just go 6mm like you have done.

No issues noticed thus far.

Great video. I will be using it. What is the length of silicon tubing to use?

Hey mate love the video, you did well for a one take hand held operation! You’ve made it super easy to do this with my NP. Another one to consider is the breathers for the vacuum actuators under the battery tray. There’s at least one of those black cap units in there that might be worth extending much like the ones you show here. I’m also interested to know more about your 10mm subframe drop - why? Also done to the rear to match the front? Did you leave the gearbox crossmember alone? There’s loads of info at the Pajero Club Forum too - pajeroclub.com.au - would love to read your build specs if you’re over there already ;) Cheers!

Thanks, in the absence of funding i found that doing one take videos is something i am happy to do! I am aware of the actuators you speak of, but i hadnt noticed a breathe point there. I did the subframe drop front and rear including the gearbox crossmember, for the purpose of reducing tyre scrub against the body. I currently have 285 75 16 tyres on 0mm offset. I plan to fit 305 70 16 next time.

Nice video, have Pajero 3.0v6 2004 model. I filled transmission fluid now I see drops underneath by exhaust. Could it be overfilled and now escaping from the gearbox breathers?
@rhetth-s80822 жыл бұрын
Could oil have run down the outside of the filler tube? What is the level in the box?
@sandveldoff-campdrifters21742 жыл бұрын
@@rhetth-s8082 thanks for your response! Well at first it was overfilled even dipstick confirmed it and it was being burnt by the exhaust manifold at the driver's side (right hand steering wheel). I reduced it a bit to where it's level in dipstick is between cold and hot when car has been parked overnight and now it no longer burnt by the exhaust manifold but dripping down just a little bit to the down part of the exhaust! That's why I suspected there could be a breather hose which extracts overfilled fluid?!

@@sandveldoff-campdrifters2174 are you checking the gearbox fluid level when the engine is running and gearbox is in park?
@sandveldoff-campdrifters21742 жыл бұрын
@@rhetth-s8082 check it both when running and when cold before starting car on mornings.
@rhetth-s80822 жыл бұрын
@@sandveldoff-campdrifters2174 the engine needs to be running when you check the transmission oil level, otherwise the reading is wrong.

Hi mate, nice video, thinking to do this same process with my Pajero, just a question, is your Pajero automatic and what year? Cheers

Hi mate, brilliant video! I’m wanting to do this myself but can’t find the 4mm to 6mm hose adapters anywhere. What store did you get them from please?
@rhetth-s80824 ай бұрын
From memory it was from supercheap or autobarn. Not sure if it's on ebay as a single item. There is a kit you can get with lots of sizes but it costs a crazy amount.
@rhyscavill38484 ай бұрын
Spot on, cheers brother. They didn’t have them in store when I checked online, but they’re ordering me in some on Monday. I got underneath my pajero earlier just to suss it out before I carry out the work & above that bracket that holds the Gearbox and transfer Case breathers seems to have another breather style hose above it, do you have any idea what that might be?
@rhetth-s80824 ай бұрын
@@rhyscavill3848 its a while ago now, i cant quite recall what you might be referring to. Maybe try to get your phone in there to take some pictures.
@rhyscavill38484 ай бұрын
I’ve heard people say that the breathers for the transfer case are at the top middle of the transmission. I’m pretty clueless myself, but do you think those hoses in the black brackets are definitely the breathers for the transfer case And transmission?
@rhetth-s80824 ай бұрын
@@rhyscavill3848 from memory, yes, and especially so if i mention it in the video. I traced everything. I had the benefit of a 10mm subframe drop making access a tad easier.

How did you do your chassis lift and what was involved did it effect the steering or was it straight forward ?
@rhetth-s8082 Жыл бұрын
I did a 10mm subframe drop to reduce tyre scrub. Unfortunately the intermediate steering shaft still needed to be modified which is a big safety area to be aware of. Front and rear subframe, gearbox crossmember, rear bumpstop, rear shock, and front shock top spacers. The bigger the subframe drop the more things that need modifying.....

@@rhetth-s8082 . Ok so not much fun . I was almost hoping to do it with some delron so as to Al's reduce some NVH .
@rhetth-s8082 Жыл бұрын
@@johnnystoka6625 to affect NVH and make it safe you would need to reconfigure the situation so that there is absorbency on either side of a mount and adequate lateral location.
