I plan on doing twice a month to monthly releases for my comics (on the web), and this video has given me an insight on how to help consider my plans for how to be smart with it.

This is the hard truth you have to accept, it's easy to start but soooooo hard to continue going. If you asked me why I draw manga I wouldn't tell you, I don't have some deep reason that keeps me going. What I do have is just a desire, I've pushed through hard times drawing pages after pages and I've drawn so much now that looking back on how much I've done is enough to keep me going, like I've always done

@saigamiproject - I looked into art school when I was looking at college as a fresh faced 18 year old back in the 80s (when dinosaurs ruled the earth?). NOBODY took comics or cartoonists seriously. Comics up to a certain period of time were looked down upon as puerile and usually of the delinquent variety (thanks largely to Dr Wertham's infamous book in the 50's) and comic book artist was not exactly the most respected profession.

oh yeah, I have both the 10 inch version (for when I'm on the go, maybe drawing at a café or similar) and a 16 inch one for my home setup.

I advise against setting different profiles... trust me, it happens a lot that they just reset or get deleted wich is just frustrating... just stick to the base one...

Sad to hear this! I actually won one of your competitions to have one of my characters featured as a background character in Saigami. I had no idea you were suffering like this! I wanted to pitch my own manga to Saturday AM but now I'm reconsidering. I hope you heal and publish more Saigami as I loved it!

This is an awesome Epic idea that foreigners can get in a Japanese Publisher, but I also think there should be a name for manga-style comics for Stateside publishers like Saturday AM & etc. For Japan it's Manga, Korea it's Manhwa/Webtoons, China it's Manhua, there needs to be a name coined for USA manga-style comics.
@GaidenDS106 ай бұрын
Reading your thoughts though I think the industry inside America needs to change and adapt at somethings to become as successful as Japan's comic publication, their ways are so different compare to how most novels here are publish compare to how comics are published in the westcoasts. Sorry to hear your stories.

Damnnn I remember being one of the runner ups in a summer of manga entry getting to speaking with you. You were such a cool and sweet person and it’s sad to see you were shafted out of money for the amazing work you put out. I’ll try to see if I can purchase volume 1 or 2 down the line. Thanks for your commitment thus far over these many years to creating such a great story!

Japan doesn't gate keep anyone out, SMA is a thing, and you've got to remember there is a huge language barrier, and the Japanese usually produce high-quality manga that is different from western manga which is usually pretty trash in comparison, and you've got to compete with that. It's just a buisness like anything else, you've got to make sure your producing a manga that is actually outside the box and of decent quality plus in the Japanese language in order to get noticed. I'm producing my own personally one that's not bound by genre conventions or a rigid story, and trust me, my Japanese friends simply cannot wait for me to finish it, to an alarming degree, they're perfectly open to foreigners. You've just got to be willing to take that first step and be different from everyone else, we don't need another bleach and we don't need another naruto like the garbage produced on satam. And you just can't expect to rock up to Japan with your steven universe clone, graphic novel published in English and read from left to right and expect an editor to actually even look at your work let alone take you seriously.

Honestly even before you left I did felt like a certain creator (won’t name who) did give the n@rçïçisstic vibe and wow my gut was right. I know there’s other good creators there but I only followed Saturday am bc of Saigami. One of the few well written manga there 🙂 I’m so glad u left girl u deserve better and I hope you have a great life doing what you love.

yo, do anyone know how to set age limit? cuz reading the submission guidelines made me realized how terrible is the world in my story. I don't want to take away the concept of my story as much as i want to follow guidelines and avoid getting axed (i already uploaded 3 chapters and will upload the 4th within this week but things are now starting to get serious)

Now that I know the full truth I'm really sorry that all this happened to you. I don't think you should be beating yourself up for not nosing the red flag that happens to a lot of people the point is you're out now and hopefully you focus on recovery. If people are interested in alternatives I suggest checking out shine comics, sling shot, and Onsorugo

I think your decision to leave is perfectly understandable, and I look forward to seeing whatever you choose to do going forward! It's always tough being put in a situation like that, but it can be necessary to move on. You do excellent work, so there's no doubt that you'll always find a crowd of supporters and opportunities wherever you go.

Yea, sorry but not paying artists is disgusting, they want to make money off the work but not freaking pay for it. Again, disgusting. Thats why art is going independent, and when these companies no longer have any real artists its gonna go poorly for em. =/

Started looking more into as as I had been considering Saturday A.M. a few months back. I don't really drawing draw the kind of stuff that's suited for a traditional comic or manga format, and more of an evolution of gag-a-day. Glad you were able to make it out of Sat A.M.

Sen, As someone who actually knew you since the early 2010s (2011/2012) and despite us never actually going forward to work together on an early project (it was a soccer manga i think), I am REALLY proud of how far you've come. You really achieved many great things becoming an actual mangaka and living a dream that many of us have. For me i still write and plan to publish something in the near future; not manga but book wise. Maybe one day I'll be able to make a manga like you. I am very sorry to hear about what you experienced and the difficult challenges that you had to deal with as a whole. I always looked at your videos occasionally because it made me happy that a familiar old friend was doing well in her life. Whatever happens next for you, know that you have support as seen by your social media fans and people who know you personally (although for me, it's only some extent). I can't wait to see what you do next. *Also*, i am so happy that you have a pug as well! I never knew that you also liked pugs and that would have been fun to chat about back then hahah!
