An eye opening video! As Indian parents it's really really a challenge to raise genz teenagers! I have a teenager who takes wash only twice or max thrice..so be happy n feel blessed for taking shower 5 days in a week. Everyday, new new challenges.

As Indian mother I can't even think of accepting date culture........its very scary that too with female child......adi vayiru kalanguthu.......its not that we are not believing...its the scare we have in our mind as we don't trust our male kids😂😂. Even if this generation kids are going to be very honest and genuine, I can't accept the culture of dating......apadiye anupunalum,I will just imagine all the negative things that may happen to my girl child......Its a basic fear we have.....its really hard to accept if a girl chid gets spoiled......really the pain that if a girl child had to undergo if she gets cheated will be terrible......best to keep them safe than to give them complete independence......safety is first for us I guess. Studies and jobwise and selcting their partner we can give them full freedom but roaming around and spending time with someone is not needed I guess. May be once the girl child is self standing financially with good job, she can start searching her partner. Defenitely Not before that 😊😢😅 let our girl child be physically and mentally be strong.....I don't think indian girls will be strong enough by this age of 16 or 18. Not sure though. Though that teenage can tempt to try drugs and sex its better to teach our kids to control their feeling for drugs and sex atleast till the age of 25😮😅. Controlling self will be best that going through unnecessary pains and sufferings. Self control is a must. Kids should definitely develop that😊

We must remember not only us but they(our kids) are going through this too & that adds to the confusion that are already happening in such families living with this fusion of cultures.The need here is clarity on both the kids as well as parents. We are not a typical American Family nor do we fall under the classic Indian Family system. We are living somewhere in between & that's what makes us unique. Discussing with the kids helps a lot in this. For example Indian parents are called Helicopter parents for something we think is our right (to check on our kids whereabouts & well being) & we don't care but it is a big deal for our kids so we need to be aware & draw a line as to what is comfortable for them & what isn't. We all can learn so much by just listening to our kids - listen to what they have to say & how they feel & you will surprised at the change in our relationship & you will be surprised on how much they come forward to learn about their roots after this. Somewhere along the line we will find the connection with our kids which we searched for all along

Good vlog Sainthavi . Insightful. Got to know how it is to parent a kid in US in current scenario. Bringing up Third Culture Kids is also more challenging as they've had different cultural experiences because of constantly moving expat parents. Parenting in any scenario is a challenging task and is a thankless job. Acceptance is the key.

Hi Sain.... enjoyed the conversation a lot.👌....after coming to USA I set a boundary as u mentioned..... for my son when he joined college that he has to get up...get ready on time himself....no waking him everyday like we do in India. He soon realised his responsibility within a week & is doing his things on time.......now its been 2yrs & i don't hv to worry anything abt his college or studies.
