What a stunning little bird! I had a look online to find out some more info about them (I'm not at all familiar with the species) and there is very little quality material published about them other than the basics. I think they're a really interesting species.

@@ParrotBliss I now live in Missouri. I have 3.5 acres. Building an aviary so I can take her out in warm months. I rescued her a year ago. She had never been handled. She’s my best friend. She is the sweetest bird. I also rescued a Sulfur Crested Cockatoo as well. He has bonded with me too. He is so funny. He had not been handled either. Both of them love being on my shoulder or lap. I want to rescue Macaw. I would love to come down there and give another a forever home with lots of love. But I bet they wouldn’t work with me.

All really useful methods for training our birds in a range of situations that work, so long as we are consistent and put the time in. Used together, they can be even more effective! Our new little kakariki hen, Maude is settling in wonderfully and adapting to life as an indoor bird really well. Having come from an outdoor aviary with only other kakarikis in, she's learning about the various species she now shares a large room with and about being around people. I don't think the breeder spent much time in the aviaries with their birds, so she's a bit more timid than the kakarikis I've bred in the past, but she's not too bad. She's also building up her fitness and learnt to go back to her own cage at night to sleep, as well as when the potted grasses are brought in to play on, so the daily routine (another _really_ important factor in training my birds) seems to be giving her the confidence to explore her new world and people.

I love the bathroom method. Yes. I always try to buddy up a new caique. One is usually a lot more brave. That bird encourages the other. I always carry treats! I give treats for lots of things. They all love getting that tiny bit of walnut! I also begin targeting. I don’t train tricks. But, the bird learns to read me and I learn to read my bird. For me, you have to have patience and persistence. Plus, it’s very important to be calm. I agree with short training sessions. And the training session must end on a positive note. 😊

I've always wanted a parrot/bird but I'm too old now. I am thinking about adopting a bird that needs a good home since I have lots of free time but have only had parakeets many years ago. Life gets in the way, so if you're considering a bird(s) and you have the proper amount of time to dedicate to them, I suggest you get them before you're too old and don't have decades to grow with your bird(s). Love this little guy.

kzbin.info/www/bejne/pampmpRvfdp_e80si=1FsFKR2fpmG7HAt5 Rescue, great idea. I don't agree. A bird any age will appreciate care and love. If you speak with a parrot expert, like an avian vet, they'll tell you that parrots don't live as long as people say. I agree with that. A good parrot-keeper is good, no matter what age.

Why are you doing this to me?😂🤣🤣. Absolutely fabulous bird. I’ve noticed that when my birds are happy that they pick up words from me and each other. One of my hens has started to say, “hey baby”, “watcha doin “ and “crazy bird”. Every bird now says, “Watcha doing” and “good”. We talk to our flock all day, never trying to get them to speak. I hope your Hahn’s goes to a fabulous loving home!❤️❤️❤️❤️

KZbin is strange I can’t reply to your comment: yes they seem to like each other but I’m keeping them sun separate cages until they are disease tested. I think they sold me an older bird , could u tell by their eyes?
@ParrotBliss5 күн бұрын
If you were supposed to get a young bird, you can compare things like the beak sizes, their sound and their size. Babies are a little thinner- just like adults tend to be more "filled out" than young kids or teenagers.
@jesuswarnedusaboutthem77105 күн бұрын
@@ParrotBliss she is bigger then him and her eyes are not black. I think he is definitely younger but I’m wondering if they sold me an old bird. Is that common in pet stores? I have them separated until I test them (is that necessary) but they chirp at each other and my petey likes her so it will work out. Just concerned about age difference. Her beak is bigger than his and stronger also. She is not tame at all. I really appreciate you always answering comments !! Ur awesome and so helpful I’m new at this

Hi. I hope you are able to answer me. I have a baby parotlet that I got from this disgusting pet shop , I feel I saved him , I could not find any at bird rescues around me. I just got him a companion from the same gross pet shop. She was all by herself. The question is that she look bigger then him and also her eyes are not black. I’m thinking they sold me an older bird. Unfortunately no one in that shop speaks English. I wanted a companion to my bird and that was the only place I found that sold parrotlets.

I was always told if you want to snuggle, get a puppy, not a parrot. I have a yellow naped Amazon who just turned 40 this March. She likes nothing better than to snuggle under a blanket, have her head and neck rubbed, and will literally turn her head, bury it into her back feathers, and fall asleep right on me. My male Sun Conure, on the other hand, is EXTREMELY loud....and needy
@ParrotBliss5 күн бұрын
Your Amazon sounds amazing- your Sun Conure would be less needy and quieter if he had another Sun Conure 😀
