You can easily see the Jethro westbound signal from the Newell toll bridge, especially from the walkway. The 10mph at Midsteel may be due to the Whemco switcher, but I don't know for sure.
@CCBP121617 күн бұрын
The view from Newell is tricky with the curve there. There's a way to get right up on the signals, but it requires trespassing which I didn't wanna do, especially down there. I wouldn't be shocked if Whemco was the reason for that 10 there. It confuses me so much because it's just your humble 2 mile section of single track

@CCBP1216 I know there used to be two mains and a siding for Crucible, but that shut down in 1982. The mill switchers could have the siding, but not the mains. My friend who was a conductor for Pennsylvania/ Penn Central/ Conrail had a plan worked out with the mill guys where he would take their inbound cars into the siding past the switch to the mill while the mill crew brought the outbound cars on the siding. Both crews would cut away, the mill switchers would back down to the inbound cars and take them into the mill yard. After they cleared the switch, the railroad guys backed up to their cars, coupled on, and shoved back out on the main, and coupled onto the rest of the train. Both crews were on their way in the minimum amount of time, but with the fewest moves.

They needed to add another 90 minutes to the padding in the schedule. Lengthen the layover in DC to do a quick cleaning on the train. It should leave MIA 2 hours earlier OR skip Tampa and give it to the Meteor. This train is so frequently late that it makes the chicago connections unreliable
@CCBP1216Ай бұрын
I think what should be done is that railroads, especially those like CSX and NS that host Amtrak, need to stop running trains that do not fit their infrastructure, and find more efficient ways to move freight. Big reasons that Amtrak, especially the Floridian/Capitol Limited, is late all the time is because of incompetent dispatching and incompetent freight-moving

I live in the Hartford, CT area, and at times I travel over to the next town to watch trains on the new Haven/Springfield Amtrak line. There’s a signal where I watch which has the “C” signal on the signal mast. I tried to figure out what that meant for quite a long time. Watching your video solved the mystery. I enjoy your videos.

WOW, that was action packed. All those heritages in one day. 8101 horn, that Darren claimed to sound way off, all it is is that K5HLB is becoming a little fouled. I had to laugh at the SCL when someone on your scanner was about to talk and the horn blew. That storm though, you gave the good choice to stay in your car.
@CCBP12166 ай бұрын
Yeah the K5HLB needs to be cleaned off, it's way under-blowing and it warbles. Quite tragic considering how good it used to be. I didn't even notice my scanner getting walked over by SCL lol (my ears got blown out). And I just barely made it into the car by the time the heavy stuff came down, so I was decently soaked. Yeah that was quite a Monday. They just kept coming.
@CornerFieldHobbyRailfan6 ай бұрын
@CCBP1216 I agree, that horn does, but very likely the diaprams needs to be replaced. When horns over time have full air being blown by a silinoid, makes them warp.
@CCBP12166 ай бұрын
Right
@CornerFieldHobbyRailfan6 ай бұрын
@CCBP1216 I personally own 5 horns and 1 whistle, which I use a ball valve so theirs no wear and tear on the power chambers, so I know what happens to the horns when they get fouled.

On the NEC (and parts of NJT) the C Lights is in use where all movements is governed by cab signaling - also known as NORAC Rule 562- and no wayside signals is in use. This is found from Boston to outside New Haven, along the Hells Gate Line, A Tower (tunnels inclusive) to DOCK, COUNTY to HAM in Jersey, BACON to PRINCE in Maryland, as well as Parkesburg to Harrisburg on the Keystone. SEPTA and MN also operate under 562, but has their own signals that do not require the C Light

PTC does not replace C Lights if that's what your asking. If cab signals die, PTC can't entirely save it.
