Great routine, I'm singing to myself a vintage favorite "Shine on Harvest Moon" and it lines up perfectly, so I'm going to work on this choreography and give it a try, maybe with a little vintage vernacular Jazz thrown in for good measure, actually this might work for a classic Cole Porter song called "Anything Goes",and a vintage favorite called "Murder he says" by the Four Vega Bonds.

A suggestion. Could you demonstrate what the finished step looks like before you start breaking down. That way we have a goal to reach instead of wondering what the final step looks like.

Liked your lesson. The Cincinnati and drawbacks have always befuddled me as a tap dancer. I liked how you've took the step and broken down, started slow. I do have one comment, as a tall male dancer whose built more like Chuck Green (who by appearance looks like football player) I wonder how can be light on my feet and dance with confidence, like Chuck Green.
@stillkickingwithkarie-lee6657
@stillkickingwithkarie-lee6657 4 ай бұрын
So, to appear so light on his feet Chuck Green (also John Bubbles) had to have a lot of strength in this legs along with incredible balance, which also comes from strength in your core. He keeps his balance centered over his toes, so the heels only come down for accents and not to keep balance. This also comes from strength in your feet, and that ability to keep your feet loose, but precise. He keeps his arms and upper body relaxed and graceful, which makes all the strength in his legs and feet look deceptively easy. Here’s a good balance drill: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXO3ZYONg7iKZtksi=kneaw041mTT0HKwE

Since I am teaching basic to ladies in their 60’s who have never tapped, I like the breakdown of steps or small step combinations. I hope to eventually get them up to a smaller routine but that may be awhile! 😊 For myself, I like routines but I will be happy with anything you post.

If you practice a LOT you can become familiar with the basics. If the choreography is simple and is taught very slowly you may be able to learn it. Tap skills are earned through much drilling and repetition… 😊. Good luck 👍

This is by far the most helpful info I found about fitting tap shoes. I have read so many other fitting guides online, such as snug but not tight, not painful but no additional space in the toe box, and so on. But what kind of space is considered "additional space"? Is "wiggle room" considered additional space? I never know. Nothing is clearer than you showing with a tap shoe and pointing out the toes should reach the end of the shoes. It also gives me a peace of mind when you said it is a tough call right there because I am never sure if I bought one size too small or not. Thank you for your video!
@stillkickingwithkarie-lee6657
@stillkickingwithkarie-lee6657 Жыл бұрын
Yes it is a tough call! You don’t want your feet to be able to move around inside the shoe, but there should be no pressure on the ends of your toes…. Good luck finding the right size! Thanks for watching 😁

Love this video! My daughter (16y.o.) is a ballerina with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Crazy I know. When she was a little girl, a ballet teacher told her she could dance and she can. Ballet is much more fun than painful "range of motion" exercises! Due to this obsession with dancing (and some very supportive medical and physical therapy personnel), she pushes herself to the max, and finally at age 13 she began to walk without a mobility device. Just last year she performed her first ballet solo without a device. Now, her obsession is tap. Difficult to visualize, given her circumstances, but I thought a "cane dance" might be the solution. We're going to practice this step. Thank you for introducing it! Very interested in the board, too.

What an inspiring story! Your daughter must have the spirit of a warrior! I truly believe that the melding of music and movement can take us beyond where we could go with only one or the other. I’m so honored that she might find some value in this video. I do think it is a great idea for her to learn tap with a cane! I would love you to keep me posted on her progress.. ps the tap board is just a piece of plywood over my carpet, with a sheet of particle board veneer laid over the top. Thanks! Karie-Lee ❤️
