not really he actually died half a second before it looked like he did, but the information hadn't reached his client yet and when you look at him half a second before he apparently died, he's facing a little away from the spy - the only reason why it doesn't look like he can be backstabbed is because he's slightly behind the spy however, if you rewind his hitbox a little, the spy is easily behind him - and that is what the server sees it looks ridiculous for the you, but you do not see what the server sees and yes i know i'm totally a spy main trying to justify a facestab. fight me.

not even kidding i hit a feign on an engineer, ran up a staircase and into a heavy, ran back straight past the engie that looked me dead in the eyes and even swung at me, and around a corner into a sniper i hit a matador on. heres the really dumb part, i ran back around the corner and stabbed that same engie and heavy. its not even like a good play its just suprising how i didnt fucking instantly die

If you get good at spy then you will be able to avoid trickstabs forever. Its an investment of your time. And well worth it.

@@tetonis2452 not really. at the higher end of trickstabby shit they are basically impossible to avoid. more about strafing ultimately. sure you can avoid matadors, but anyone with a consistent strafe can do that. the issue is that if you have a consistent strafe, its consistently exploitable. the clip at 3:42 is a good example of this. you can see the demo orbits around the spy when he sees him, he is strafing around the spy to get to his back. many scouts do this, its a common type of strafe. to counter this the spy anticipates his movement preemptively and counters it. he knows the demo is going to strafe around him, so he walks straight to where he is going to be, rather than where he is. (after leading him forwards) people cannot control the way they strafe. its a reflex not a conscious thought process. meaning so long as you strafe consistently, as anyone should, you are vulnerable to trickstabs. however if you dont strafe and instead just press W and aim with your mouse, then you just go back to being matadored. playing a lot of spy will certainly improve your movement, thus granting you a consistent strafe and effectively immunizing you from ordinary trickstabs. But if a spy knows what they are doing, it will hardly save you. granted, the list of spies who can consistently pull off any of that is pretty damn small. so just press S and shoot them until they die, works 99% of the time.

@@CrusteeBaguette the 3:42 clip really just looks like an accidental stab, spy goes left to bait into a normal trickstab, demo tries to enbox the spy between the fence and himself with a really shallow strafe, the spy's right strafe just happens to be strafing backwards, matador that was accidentally managed

@@vitiate5420 it was prolly just ambient inclusion or whatever the edges of your screen blur when you surf, I wasn't sure it it was motion blur or just high settings
