Do you know that instead of buying stuff from a hobby shop like plaster cloth, you can buy it much cheaper from a hardware or even cheaper from the local plaster supplier. Also paints and similar tools etc..

Someone else has done a walk on the same track bed but from Garsdale Station down to Mosshead Tunnel which is slowly collapsing due to ground pressure pushing the sides of the tunnel inwards and a large piece of the tunnel wall inside has already collapsed. If the Wensleydale railway does one day get back to Garsdale then that tunnel will be a problem and probably opening it out into a deep cutting with a small bridge spanning the cutting for the minor road that crosses it maybe a cheaper alternative to completely rebuilding the tunnel which will always suffer from ground pressures. Aysgarth Station my have been sold into private ownership which is why it survived.
@HighOakJunction4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. That walk sounds interesting. I drove past Garsdale a few times but not walked that part of the line. You can see the old railway infrastructure along the road at times. Regards John

@@HighOakJunctionWe have plenty of abandoned lines here down under but unlike the UK the railway lines are still there. Only recently I was at a place called Coolah which was a branch terminus and the lines are all still there as is the turntable and only the wooden platform is slowly rotting away. The vegetation is kept at bay by horses so we've gone backwards from the iron horse to real horses. Even the branch line tracks can easily be seen from the road that runs parallel to the line. They've only been cut where they cross driveways into farms. UK branch lines often have silver birch trees growing in the four foot whereas we have species of eucalyptus growing in ours with the track gauge mostly standard gauge but in places ultra broad gauge of 8' or more as tree trunks push the rails ever further apart.

Hi Les, thanks for your comment, Glad you liked the video. The kit was fairly easy, and the instructions were not too clear, and you needed your own modelling know how to work put especially the height of front cladding as on diagram should have been lower but then carriage roof would hit the cladding. Hi John! Can you please answer some random questions? 1) How have you insulated your loft space? 2) Do you heat the loft space? 3) Have you had any issues with condensation? Many thanks
@HighOakJunction8 ай бұрын
Hi, No, I'm happy to answer random questions. 1- Yes, the loft is insulated between the rafters with rolls of space blanket and what was on offer 14 years ago , encouraging ones to insulate their home, then hardboard sheet on top. 2. I have a free-standing electric heater that I switch on occasionally to take the chill off, but if the woodburner is on the heat in the hallway, it goes up into the loft. 3. No, I never had any issues of condensation . Also, 2 years ago, we had the bungalow reroofed with new breathable felt, which has improved air movement in the loft . I hope this is of some help. All the best, John

Hello John, I’m a new subscriber to your channel which I found today by accident. Never ceases to amaze me that the KZbin algorithm every now and then puts up someone new. Part 1 scratch building of this bridge was the video I found and am now setting in to an afternoon of binge watching your journey. Personally I would suggest some form of weathering for the girder bridge as the abutments etc look slightly weathered so it would tie it all together. Don’t put yourself down I think you’ve done a great job. I’ve never tried scratch building myself and to attempt your bridge on a curve I think is an impressive task to take on as a first scratch build bridge. Keep up the good work. Off now for a binge watching.
