For anyone watching, you can prevent this by just relocating the ECU. highly recommended as just replacing the broken one won't fix it for good, the new ECU will fail as well at some point if you don't relocate it. you can thank GM for this.

As an appliance repairman, theres always going to be water in there unless the unit hasnt been used in awhile. What happens is you put in detergent and then you close the lid, it fills up with water and then it makes it over flow down the straw looking piece and so the water pushes out the detergent. The only hole is the one down the tube so theyll never be dry. Unless like you did, bought the new part's or you can drill in a small hole

My heat shield was completely loose and rattling… but it was on the top. The bottom is hard steel with no shield… does this mean it’s already fallen off? Mine didn’t have any screw holes. Looks like they tack welded it or something. Also, Harbor Freight has stainless steel zip ties. Probably even easier to use than the hose clamps.

We have two of these cars. My friends and I performed the timing-belt job for both. The reason being is that the tensioner was making a racket at cold starts.

I will try this but I have a different issue where my some of my doors unlock by themselves if i leave the car locked for more than a day.

If gou open up the module you will see many cold solder joints on the connector pins at pcb. It literally a $1.00 fix folks.

Thank you for your quick detailed video and also for the suggestion of Hella brand of bulbs. I really love my 2000 Acura TL3.2 the journalists Car of the Year for 2,000. I bought my in 2013 with only 125,000 KM for only $5,000 Canadian in mint condition. It now only has 185,000 KM. I just get a dealer to change this bulb and quote the dealer and a dependable after market shop with a quality name brand bulb. I'll ask for Hella brand you suggested in the video if it's available.

Once, a valley ignored the slot in my Acura tl 2009 and use keyless start system and I put the key in the slot while the engine is running in keyless start system so I wonder if it is ok?

Sort of misleading. It's incredibly difficult to change Acura TL bulbs without removing the bumper. You can get a the HB's, barely and with great difficulty, but not the lows. Acura really dropped the ball here. All the reason I would ever need never to buy an Acura.

A lot of waffling for nothing. There are already cutouts in place where you can re-locate the end of the spring in order to increase tension. Obviously you need to adjust both sides.

I went to acura a while ago and programmed my original key, it was working just fine. then i told my friend to start my car and unintentionally he put the key fob in the key slot that not knowing we’re not supposed to do that. the key did not get stuck but that did take away the programming acura did on my key fob and car. Now, the car won’t lock or unlock from the key fob buttons but it is still programmed to the car, i know that because i had a locksmith come and text it out for me. what do y’all recommend ?

Thanks for this video. I drive a 2013 TL Shawd 3.7l. My cold morning (winter) starts are very noisy till it warms up then it quiets down. I just thought it was the upper cylinders just getting oil lubrication taking a little longer than normal to lubricate but it could be my T-belt tensioner. I only have 62K US miles @ almost 11 years old and haven't done this service yet. I bought the Continental Pro-Kit and was shocked to see it came with both the Aisin water-pump & Aisin tensioner. Will do it this spring along with spark plugs, thermostat, new accessory belt & pulley ready to go.

This is so helpful. Whenever I disconnect and reconnect the battery, I ALWAYS am unable to start the car... the battery shows it's charged. Sometimes I have to fiddle with the position of the negative cable and jostle things around before I'm finally able to restart the car. This time I simply cannot get my car with a charged battery to start. Any ideas? Update: Hours later I got the car to crank and start up after I cleaned the terminals with baking soda and gave it another jump start.... and when it started? My A/C, which had stopped working suddenly worked again... AND no more misfires... all codes have vanished from my obd. Does this sound like a bad ECU??

exactly what happend to my 05 aero . ive bought a second ecu and had it cloned /reprogrammed and mapped and so far so good . there are heat shield kits which stand it off the manifold and help with the heat cycling which seems to be the culprit but i intend moving mine to the slam panel by the radiator . there's a good YT vid on how to do this and its pretty straightforward. I also intend opening my old one and getting up close to see if it may be as simple as a dry joint as i found with mine it failed when in traffic and idling when the temp rises , i could drive 15 miles each way to work (motorway A roads with no fail)

. good video, thanks for sharing. The locks are controlled by the BCM. For safety reasons, it is disconnected after more than 10 close/open operations. Also in case of accident the doors open. In case of theft the alarm is activated. In case of locking due to heat, material deformation, strong friction, the lock does not work, deactivated for safety by the BCM. WD-40 works miracles. In the case of cold ice the same thing happens.

Everyone shows how to replace it, but no testing instructions. Thank you for including the test.

Very helpful video! I’m curious why you say the ECU rebuild service doesn’t work. My Saab recently suddenly broke down and won’t restart. It ran fine and wouldn’t restart minutes after turning it off. Found a single P0204 code.

The slot is for your fob if the battery is dead, car wont start if the batteries are dead in the fob, so you put fob in the slot and the car will start

Thanks for the video. My dealer just found this issue for me as well. The charge is $140…but you can buy it for like $30-$40. I don’t mind paying them as they took the time to find it, they gave me a coupon for other work and they keep my car running safely. I would have done it myself had I known but I would never have known to look. So all good.

So the thing to try is disconnect the battery, then reconnect and see if all is well.
