Check engine light, check emissions system light, P0171 code Honda Acura, air intake tube hose

The check engine light on the dashboard of my 2010 Acura RDX came on recently. The SHAWD light also came on. The OBD II code was P0171 (engine running lean). The root cause was cracks in the rubber air intake tube, causing too much unfiltered air to be ingested into the engine that was running lean.
Acura OEM part number for the intake tube is 17228-RWC-A00

I am currently having the check engine light and also a check emission system on my acura tsx. After watching this video, I opened my hood and behold, my hose, this same hose you are holding has a crack like yours.

Thanks for the video. My dealer just found this issue for me as well. The charge is $140…but you can buy it for like $30-$40. I don’t mind paying them as they took the time to find it, they gave me a coupon for other work and they keep my car running safely. I would have done it myself had I known but I would never have known to look. So all good.

Thanks a lot! I had exactly the same problem and replaced the MAF sensor. But it still continued. It was that air intake hose. THANKS AGAIN!!😂

Mine had the same, I used heavy duty glue permanently sealed and fixed problem for free

Yeah, those air intake snorkles/tubes with tear if anything even looks at them wrong if the car (Honda/Acura vehicles) has some age to it. Luckily the parts are readily available everywhere… eBay is your friend
