Good video, thanks! Two points to clear up, as I've watched several videos on the features and restoration of the TC-55... 1) These were not Walkmans (Walkmen? Dunno). Those were much lighter because they had the mechanisms to record audio removed. They were players, only, not recorders (or "corders" as Sony chose to call them). 2) The TC-55 was not the next model in line after the TC-50 (which went to the moon). They did a little skipping around with the model numbers. The 1968 TC-50 was followed by the TC-40 (1970), TC-45 (1971) and TC-55 (1972). (Or, as I refer to them, "The Night Stalker," "The Night Strangler," and the "Kolchak: the Night Stalker" models. I'll spare you... anybody who's interested can look up the relevant TV shows.) And Happy Halloween, everybody!

I'm the cousin. Late at night I used to watch Met games when I was like 8. My mon would come in to check on me and I would push the screen down and fake I was sleeping. Also used to watch Benny Hill after the game. As a kid, I learned a lot from that show.

I had a different version of the rocket radio back in the 1960s. I have great memories of it! The rod that slides in the coil is not a magnet, it is a ferrite rod. It's made of powdered iron held together by ceramic. It has the magic properties of being able to tune a coil without any loss of sensitivity. Crystal radios have always amazed me!

@taunusv4power Жыл бұрын
Yeah, it makes me mad that to make it japan exclusive, they removed the voltage selector to just run on 100v, so cheap again considering how expensive this was back then. Look at grundig for example with their satellit series
@LapisandHamtarolover Жыл бұрын
@taunusv4power It's more to do with domestic appliances being more important than international versions; though the closest what most international could go on are 110V though some might not work properly but at least it won't damage an appliance via overvoltage/overcurrent.

@@taunusv4power actually we rarely have snow here, and if we get snow it's only a few centimetres. And then we put heaps of salt on the roads, so we never actually suffer as you did

@@banpeinet is that so? The only time i experienced snow in Europe was when my dad took us to Andorra back in 2005, the black ice was so bad our rental xtrail started sliding down on still traffic, so scary! Ironically there was a road inspection earlier and the guy told everyone with no chains to turn around unless they had snow tires, however he just told us to put in in 4x4 and we'll be fine. They salt here too but there was a storm two days ago and it snowed all day. Before i was recording i did a corner at 40 km/h and i almost slid to a ditch 😅

@@taunusv4power Andorra is high up the mountains and far away from the sea. There the winter is much harsher. I live about 50km from the coast and our climate is quite moderate. @taunusv4power3 жыл бұрын
