Nice! So if this car was bought by your uncle in Japan, did it receive a RHD to LHD conversion?

indeed. importing cars from Japan was common since the mid 90's until it got banned in 2011. but the rule was to change the driving position. which i think it was a terrible decision. as you can see, the blinker remains on the right, wipers were also on the wrong side on early conversions and the mirrors too. the dash on these cars look terrible as well. i had to redo the dash so it could look factory. of course there were dealerships that only sold these type of cars and sometimes you could get a good deal like similar american models for much less because they were in the junkyard already in japan, but you had the risk to get them crashed and fixed here or with high mileage. that's why my uncle got the celica in person back in the day, he used it for a month until the tax expired. can you imagine what else he would take if he knew the future? maybe an old toyota century or a kenmeri, even a cosmo! but every time i sat on the cosmo i would think... was it worth mutilating the dash? maybe not.

On one hand I would say it would be worth it, on the other hand I would cry. :'(
