When I stumbled across your KZbin channel I stuck around in large part because your play style is much more similar to mine than almost any other Civ KZbin channel I've found. The combination of that and your presentation style is very enjoyable. I also ordered the Founder's Edition and was able to play early. I have played a couple of age transitions into the Exploration age, and I really enjoyed it. Playing on the higher difficulties in Civ VI always made me feel I was in a race and if I fell behind at all it was essentially over. So far in VII going further in to games has been much more enjoyable with the way I play the game. I'm looking forward to seeing you play and to hearing your thoughts on the ages system.

With commanders, you can select individual troops packed inside and unpack them individually. I do this myself, it's a little annoying but it certainly still is better to have them in commanders than moving them individually.

A bit sad nowadays that there are no more boxes or manuals
@Baltrod11 сағат бұрын
Fair review! I agree w your point on the commanders, but I think the benefits are probably pretty minimal in antiquity. Late game when you’re moving huge armies hopefully makes a difference

But in any event, I’m having lots of fun so far, and your Ben Franklin+Greece combo is just proof to me that the new civ-leader combos were a fun change!
@curtiswyglendowski193115 сағат бұрын
Well the game loading quickly is definitely a case to case basis, my laptop ran VI great but loads super slowly for VII, and if I don’t have it plugged in it just crashes!

Great idea for this lookback! I started with Civ I, also as a kid. Played a lot but could never win on a proper difficulty level. I didn’t play the other games until I picked up Civ VI late in its run. My goal was to win on deity before Civ VII came out. Which I did yesterday
@TheJoyofCivКүн бұрын
Nice, congrats on the deity win! I think I only have a single deity win too.
@MisterDud22 сағат бұрын
@ thanks! I’m glad I did it but in some ways it was less fun to always be thinking of how to maximize things. I usually play more in your relaxed, exploring play style

Something that would be fun is to compare the leaders of each nation from back in the day to modern ones. Such as America through civ 1 through 6, and then I think cov 7 lets you change your leader? So that will be different, right? Keep it up!

Civ V is what got me into the games (to the extent I was comically stubborn about moving onto Civ VI for some time after its release), it's nice to remember those hours logged. I'll likely sit out on Civ VII for some time, but I'm very excited for your videos on the game - they're still the most authentic gameplay I've seen by far.
@TheJoyofCiv4 күн бұрын
Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, I didn't get into Civ VI for quite a while. I kept playing V with the Vox Populi mod. I think when Gathering Storm came out, the game finally felt like it had its own interesting value and character and I cut over to playing it more often.

Will you be playing civ 7? It looks (un-modded) much more like the visual style you are going for here. But the ages system does take the feeling of a continuous empire out of the game. Any thoughts overall on the game?
@TheJoyofCiv9 күн бұрын
Hey, good question. I'm definitely planning on playing - we'll see how much I get into the game in the early days though. I got Civ VI right when it came out but still played Civ V a lot more in the beginning. Eventually I really got into Civ VI and appreciated it for what it was vs. missing aspects of Civ V. I'm sure I'll have some of that with VII.

Curious why you decided to settle in place instead of on salt? Is it for lore reasons or to be closer to the wheat tiles instead of buying them?? Really like playing civ this way! Keep it up

Good question! I guess with my goal of maximizing farming in the series, I didn't want to lose any of those wheat tiles. Thanks for taking the time to comment!

What are your Thoughts on Civ 7?
@TheJoyofCivАй бұрын
Hi! I'm optimistic even though I'm not completely sold on the civ-changing thing. I think the visuals look amazing and the gameplay videos have made it look engaging too. One thing in particular that I'm not a fan of is how the animated leaders look at each other and not directly at the person playing the game. Even though I got Civ VI right when it came out, I still played Civ V for quite a while as the game didn't feel right at launch. I won't be surprised if I still play Civ VI some after VII comes out, but we'll see!
