A look back at Civilization - Countdown to Civ VII

I was just a kid back in 1991 when Sid Meier's Civilization was released. Who knew that it was going to be the start of such a classic series and for myself, the start of a lifelong interest in history and strategy games.

very cool. i've seen gameplay but never the box. i was born in 93 and we still used floppies during my childhood, but mainly for storing photos

Great idea for this lookback! I started with Civ I, also as a kid. Played a lot but could never win on a proper difficulty level. I didn’t play the other games until I picked up Civ VI late in its run. My goal was to win on deity before Civ VII came out. Which I did yesterday

@ thanks! I’m glad I did it but in some ways it was less fun to always be thinking of how to maximize things. I usually play more in your relaxed, exploring play style

Nope, my sixth. But I confess to not really knowing anything about the genre so I probably did it like a n00b.
