There I was looking at videos about the light keeper pro and I hear "Hey I'm Das", imagine my surprise lol. Glad you covered how it works, it saved me having to reaearch to confirm my suspicions. Pretty cool! We have 3 or 4 strands of LEDs that quit working. One would randomly turn on them off again. Luckily I decided to replace them with permanent individually addressable LED strips, controlled with an arduino and WLED, before I knew they all stopped working. We were going to use them around windows or the landscaping, bur discovered they were more messed up that I remembered. I kept them thinking I may be able to rescue them. I hate throwing out LEDs. I saw a video where this guy showed how to check them with a non contact voltage tester, so i may try that, but if the led version of the light keeper works as well as the incandescent one I may just go ahead and get that. Thanks for the video!

Only issue I had was even after using this and replacing the bad bulbs, it seems to get even worse shortly thereafter to where I have to get all new stuff anyway. Hopefully everyone else has better luck than I!

This tool is handy and yes it works well if you follow the instructions. But you know what works better? Checking on the lights and changing bulbs immediately AS THEY BURN OUT. Each time a bulb fails and shunts, it raises the voltage on all of the others, which weakens them and causes more to burn out. If more than two or three are out, you raise the voltage on the remainder by 10% or so. After 5 burn out, you can get a cascade failure that can kill 10-20 at once. Stay on top of changing them as they burn out and you'll save the time having to use the tool

Fixed my 13 year old pre lit tree. Had three sets of lights not working. Click click works! Then changed a dozen burned out bulbs.

So... im guessing that trigger is a HV generator that causes the burned out bulbs filiment or strands inside it to jump and fuse together. Maybe they vaporize and the metal sheen created by it conducts along the bulb glass. Now they pass current but dont light. Edit: shunt. next time wait until the videos over to post. sorry. thanks for the tour!!!!

Nah. Doesn’t work.
@KSpaceAcademyАй бұрын
@veronicarivera5637 Check your main fuse in the plug, and make sure you have incandescent, not LEDs. Like the video mentions, this solves the problem with burnt out bulbs, but there may be other wiring issues causing your strand not to light. Good luck!

Thanks for explaining how this works! I bought one and didn't want to read all of those instructions 😂 and was hoping someone else had. Explaining the science makes years of light strands not working, finally make sense! Thanks for the insight.

have never understood why they don't make Christmas lights that are wired in parallel , but with a low voltage power source. but I guess then you would have to either have a low voltage transformer for each set. or they could have it so that the transformer wattage is waaay over rated, and have a removable shunt on the end, that you could plug another set into it and power all of them from the single transformer . But you would be limited to how man sets you could connect together, to avoid fire danger....
